Thomson GE DECT 6.0 28213 Cordless Telephone

Phone works fine for awhile, pick it up and there's no dialtone. I have to take out the battery and reinstall. Works again for a few more hours. I have to reset the battery several times throughout the day.

I have the same phone and the same problem. It happens when both phones are in their cradle. There is no dialtone, and they won't receive incoming calls. The problem mysteriously fixes itself. I haven't touched the batteries.

  • cyndeek Jul 09, 2008

When I click the green phone "talk" button, the unit beeps and will not come on. The unit is constantly charging so the battery is not dead.

  • Anonymous Jul 09, 2008

Just bought the phone and I am having the same problem. I usually remove the battery and put it back and put the phone on its base for a few seconds. Then it is working again, but I still havent found how to permanently fix it.

I have caller ID and when I come back from work, since it stopped working during the day, I am missing all my calls.

Frankly, for a new phone, I am truly disappointed.

Same issue. Very annoying. Probably going to ditch this phone and buy another (not GE) sigh.

This phone sucks! Periodically, for no reason, there will be no dial tone, just beeps if you try to call or answer a call. I have to unplug the power then reconnect, and it works again.

    Its so annoying

I have the same problem and this is very disappointing. There is no tech support, the 800 # is a voice machine, the manual and website offer nothing. This is under warranty and the best I can hope for is getting another one in 4 to 6 weeks that does the same thing. I will throw this out and buy another phone (Not GE) and I will go on every review site and tell people Not to buy this phone.

Same problem. I thought it was my Comcast phone service, but it isn't. The Ultra Slim simply stops working.  And the failures happen with increasing frequency.

The absence of support is a disappointment.

    I having the same problem
The phone was a gift, but I would never buy GE
I'm going to try and leave the phone off the charger during the day
    see how that works

  • Anonymous Apr 01, 2009

Periodically, I go to use one of my GE Dect 6.0 cordless phones, and it will either have no dial tone (just 2 beeps), or it will be making an awful hissing noise. When there is no dial tone, there will be no dial tone on either phone. When the hissing noise is there, it will be only on one phone, but if I try to do a conference (int/conf button), it comes through both phones over top of the dial tone. In order to get the phones working, I have to take the battery out of the offending phone (put it back in, and put it on the charger for 2 or 3 seconds. Then it works fine.

Another fix is to register the phone again. I do not have to de-register it first. Also, be patient. Sometimes when I take the handset from the base it searches for the base. If I push the talk button before it finishes searches, it beeps. Once it has found the base, it is ready to go. I have Verizon voice mail and it seems that when I have a message waiting it causes the phone to de-register.

I got a chordless phone and I was tring to register the handset . It was expecting a 4 digit PIN, this pin was not available anywhere in the user manual. Any set of combination it wold not accept. BY Trial I could register the phone with pin 0000 , luckily it worked. manufacturer could have given this default number somewhere on the box or manual. This omment may be useful to a new buyer next time

I finally find a way to stop this problem from occuring : never leave your phone on the charger with the battery isnt empty !

I know this sucks because what best place to put your phone at night than its base. But try it and it will work (unless your battery is already damaged). In the morning when i go to work, I charge it for 8 hours, then when I come back, I take it off the charge until next morning.

I used to put it on the charge for all night and all day until I read an interesintg post :
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Telephony-Clecs-Long-2450/Cordless-phone-interference.htm

Since I have been doing this, I didnt get any more problems with my phone.

I need a manual for a GE Dect phone - do you know how I can find one?

You don't give the phone model number so I can't be more specific, but you can download GE manuals here.

Can you use a regular ac power converter on your ge digital phone if the original broke?

another transformer with the exact rating will work fine. If the voltage going into the unit is DC verify that the polarity is correct. Otherwise you can damage the unit.

Speaker no long speaks

Unfortunatly you will need to send it for a repair or purchase a new one. You might have a deffective transistor or such.
Contacts on this electronic devices are thiner then hair. Simple shake or higher current then usual can cause all types of failures.

My landline phone dialtone I get a beep, beep, beep before dialtone

I had the same problem. To fix it, I unplugged the base from the wall, and the battery from the handset, left it all unplugged for 30 seconds, and then replugged everything back in. It works fine now.

Dialling from computer then taking call on phone?

Hi zappawo, This is impossible with the Philips VOIP321. A design flaw. You have to live with it or buy another one, like the GE/Thomson GE21878. I bought the GE with this question in mind. The GE does take over the calls from the screen to the handset. As it should be.

Instructions

Hi. I just bought one of these phones and wanted more information than what the manual offered, so I went to the GE website to see what they had. Below I put what I found, maybe it can help you. Click on the blue box that towards the bottom left for the manual for download.

After the link, I also put extra information tabout this phone that helped me find the manual for you- it wasnt easy to find. OK, best of luck.

GE MODEL 28112 DECT 6.0 CORDLESS PHONE

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.

#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.

reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.
