If you would like to download a codec pack for your player, you could try K-Lite Codec Pack, which is one of the most popular codec pack available in the market for various reasons: it counts with a great user-friendly interface for installation and its huge catalog of codec is regularly updated.

Why doesn't my recorded dvd-r movies play on my magnavox dvd player

Does your DVD player support that version of DVD disk? Not all players will handle DVD-R. Check the manual for compatibility.
Try recording to DVD+R then see if your player will play it.
Also, in what format (.avi, .flv, .mov, etc.) was the item recorded and is your player able to handle that format? Again, check the manual for compatibility.

I have prepared a home movie on Windows Movie Maker and when I copied it to a DVD it would not play on a dvd player can anyone tell me what I did wrong please thanks joe

The reason why the DVD disk you created may not contain the file format the DVD player recognizes. On a normal DVD disk there are two folders - AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. The video files are located in the VIDEO_TS folder. This video folder contains the VTS_xxx.vob video files (the video files has a .vob extension).
The video file you created may have a avi or wmv or mov or mpg extension, whilst these video files can be played on a computer but they won't play on a DVD player.
Check the movie software you are using and make sure it creates the correct file format for a DVD player.

Our Canon video camera will record in both HD and SD. We've recorded all of our video in SD so far and I burned some of it onto the Canon DW 100 burner and I can't get it to play on my DVD player. please...

You should burn your videos to a video format that should be compatible with your DVD player to get play. Some video formats will not be able to play to a certain DVD if the DVD player does not support it. You should burn your videos to VCD format to avoid problem because almost DVD nowadays have backward compatibility for all VCD movies. Hope this could help you..Please don't forget to rate me..:-) Thanks..

Mine is Sony DVD player..I insert a disc and it says "CAN NOT PLAY THE DISC" and then the player shuts off. The other DVD works fine.

HI,
Check the manuel some DVD Players do not support DVD RW or -R +R formats. When Ifirst put my burned movie in I got the message that the player cant play that format Just ignore that and advance the Video to where the movie is starting then all my burned movies played fine. My Pioneer BD 51 FD does support DVD RW +R -R formats so be sure that you can play burned DVD RW +R -R on your Sony player. I was in Wal Mart the other day and they had some DVD players on sale but on the box it said that they do not play DVD RW +R or -R Burned DVD's so be careful if you do buy another one I went to best buy and found mine. Check first it will save a lot of hassle later. This software works great but it may not play in your DVD Sony Player there is a list here of compatible DVD Players

Solutions to incorrect disk error c105 & c104

Hello gjbrokke,

First make sure the disc is compatible with the dvd player (CD-R+ , or CD-R - )

Second make sure the region code of the dvd you burned is compatible with the dvd region settings on your dvd player.

One of those two are preventing the disc from playing in your sansui player.

Dvd player only plays some movies

it might be sevral reasons:
1. Check if region code is the same for movies you playing and DVD player
2. If you using video CDs or copyed DVDs, player might be preventing to playback those kind of discs, due to copyright laws or due to different speed settings for DVD player and discks you using (for intsrance you player can playback DVD/CD+R, and you using DVD/CD-R, or mximum allowed playback speed is 16 you using disk recorded at 24, but this is in case you using burned/copied CD/DVDs)
3. Check it lens is durty. For that use CD/DVD lens cleaning disk
($6 in Walmart, if you are in US)
4. Check if movies you are have the same coloring system, i.e NTSC for US
5. Check CD/DVD for scratches, some DVD players can not playback scratched disks
Please kindly let me know if my information was helpfull for you or you need more info

Playing recordable dvd

My Emerson won't play anything except DVD Movies, never has, wasn't suppose too. Make your movies in DVD Video format and it will read them fine (unless it's broke). I make movies all the time and play them back in mine. It reads DVD-R, DVD+R, and in duel layered. It will not read RW disks!

Man I've every problem you can imagine with DVD Players. I've found when the disk gets stuck, as long as it's not jammed. You can turn the unit off or unplug it. Plug it back in but DON'T TURN IT ON! Instead hit the eject button and the drive should open the drive without trying to read the disk.

DVD player cant read DVD media

.Vob files contain audio, video and subtitles all together. However, most MPEG-2-capable DVD players don't support subtitle tracks. I guess your DVD player is in the mentioned majority. That's why you can only play them in your computer drive.
