My Maytag Neptune washer is extremely loud during the spin cycle and the detergent dispensing door is broke, How much would I be looking at out of pocket to get it fix or would it be cheaper to replace it with another Maytag washer

there is an emergency release in this, you will need to open the detergent dispenser on the top of the washer, (if you have this type) not sure without a model #. and you will be looking towards the front of the dispenser for a florescent plastic wire, this when pulled releases the door lock so you can open it, sometimes this is hard to find and you may need to remove the cover of the dispenser, ( four screws in the dispenser) and look towards the front.

Ball bearings have worn out. Replace as a set. Replace Water seals in the drum. Check the bearing shaft for any scrub marks. Check bearing housing. Fix new bearings now

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary

Gotta admit tonytools albeit not cheap has the best easiest tool to do that rough difficult repair.

very loud in spin cycle can mean a bad rear bearing, not something a homeowner would want to try to replace, parts would exceed 6-7 hundered dollars. you may have some extended part warr through the manufacture. still probly gonna be a 5 hundred when the labor is added in

You put the detergent directly on top of the clothes.

you def have a direct short somewhere, try remiveg the 3 screwsfrom the top of hte console and tipping foward you ll see a cintrol boardand some wiring look for the "arcing" mark or wire off causing short.

Had the same problem with my Neptune and is was not the bearing (there's only one). I replaced my washer with a new tub and bearing which was factory pressed in the tub (couldn't just by the bearing) after all this I found that the spinner support (which has three arms holding the tub) on the back of the tub had one of the three bolts broke and was throwing the washer out of balance and creating a loud knocking sound when it would spin. Replaced the stainless bolt and everything was fine. The repair man told me what he thought was wrong with my machine so I did the repair myself and found out after the fact that I wouldn't have had to spend all the money on the new parts if I would have just investigated the problem further.
