Well, first things first I guess:

  1. Try the printer in a different outlet (other side of room, or similar, not same power Jack)
    1. If you have power here, your issue is likely the outlet, not the printer.
  2. If the power cord has an "on" LED, check to see if it is lit up while plugged in.
    1. If you have an LED with no light while it is plugged in, you are looking at a power adapter that is no longer working
  3. If there is no "on" LED to check, your next best bet is to take your printer and power cord to a store that sells printers, and ask if you can "try" a new chord before buying it. (most stores will allow this to keep customers happy)
  4. You may also want to check with the manufacturer if the chord is found to be bad, as some will send replacements free of charge.
  5. The last option is that there is an issue inside the printer. This is not likely, though it is possible. Most printers have an external power adapter that keeps any power issue outside of the printer, but I can't tell from the epson site if this printer has one or not. (It would be a black box between the plug and printer.)
    1. This can also be checked by "testing" a new chord at a store. New chord, still no power, internal issue.
      1. If this is the case you will want to contact Epson if the unit is still under warranty.
-Hope this helps.

Epson 1280

The ink jet printers have ink absorbing pads to catch and accumulate ink used to clean the printheads. The counter on MB counts number of head cleanings and printer startups (at every start up the heads are cleaned) and at preset number of cleaning alerts the operator that "printer needs maintenance" and sets the red light. You probably need a change ink absorbing pads (or wash them and dry 'em up) and then make a reset the count using printer Service Utility (can be downloaded from the web). To get to the ink absorbing pads is not easy - you need to remove the printer case - I am not familiar with 1280, but I did that on Epson 3000 & 5000 printers. In many cases the pads are actually OK , but the MB reaches the count and flags the pads.

Computer keeps shutting off

Hi,
The problem more likely seems with the power supply or the front power button. Donnot try switch on the computer again and again it may cause damage to the motherboard. Use the following link to pin point the problem.

Epson 1280 Will Not Take Paper through to print?

Follow the instructions below in an attempt to resolve the issue you are experiencing.
1) Turn off the printer and remove all paper from the paper tray.
2) With the printer off, check for any obstructions such as torn paper or foreign objects.
3) Place 20-30 sheets of paper in the printer, ensuring none of the paper is torn or creased.
4) Make sure that the paper is flush with the far right edge of paper tray, move the left edge paper guide over so that it touches the left side of the paper.
5) Attempt printing.
