Remove the muffler, start it up. If it runs without shutting off then your exhaust has carbon build up. Most of the time it's better to replace the exhaust.
you have 1 of 2 possible problems. First is the ignition module is getting hot and killing the machine. It runs while cold but once it warms up it dies then it should restart after it cools back down. The other issue could be the needle in the carburetor is allowing more gas through than the machine can burn so it dies due to flooding. Letting it sit for a day or so allows the fuel to dissipate and allows the unit to restart
Ignition coil may be getting too toasty. Full throttle for 10 minutes.. yeah man no one does that. If factory calls for 50:1 gas/oil mix then richen it up to 40:1
CHECK THE SCREEN ON OUTPUT OF THE MUFFLER. ITS CALLED A SPARK ARRESTOR, THESE GET OIL FOULED AND MAKE EM A BEAR TO RUN . CLEAN IT UP AND SHE WILL RON LIKE A CHAMP, THE CARB MIGHT NEED REBUILDING AND A SPARK PLUG IS THE FIRST THING TO REPLACE .. IF'N I WAS ANY HELP VOTE FOR ME ...THANKS.. JAY
This is because Ryobi uses a loose fit on their piston and cylinder. As the cylinder heats up it grows in size causing the compression to drop. when the cylinder cools the cylinder shrinks and you regain your compression.
Another possibility is that you are boiling yoour gas causing a vapor lock. This also goes away once the unit cools.
