Just hooked up my new Magnavox DV220MW9 DVD Player ? VCR Recorder. I was able to set the time and a vcr timer program but now I can't switch the source. It now comes on as the DVD but neither the remote on the source button on the unit will allow me to switch it back to VCR. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the unit?

You need to release the timer to access the VCR. Press the Timer Set button on the remote or the Stop/Eject button on the recorder. Then press the VCR button.

Please note: the scheduled recording will not run as programmed unless you press the Timer Set on the remote again. (The timer locks the VCR until the scheduled ON time.) The DVD player is controlled separately and becomes the default unit.

I hope this helps.

How do i setup my trinitron (kv-27fv300) remote to control my vcr/dvd player as well?

Unfortunately, you may not be able to do this. Most remote controls only have the codes for devices released about 6 months before the remote was programmed. The KV-27FV300 manual has a copyright date of 2002. Thus its remote codes are for devices made in 2001 or earlier. The DV220MW9 was built around 2009; so a universal replacement remote is probably more likely to work.

To program the remote for the KV-27FV300, press Code Set (bottom left of the remote, below the volume +/- keys). Press the VCR/DVD function button. Press the number keys for the 3 digit code for the device manufacturer. Press Enter to save the code. Then test the code to see if it allows the remote to correctly control the VCR/DVD. The DV220MW9 has built by Funai with the Magnavox name plate. There are only Funai and Magnavox VCR codes in the TV manual. Funai: 338, Magnavox 308, 309, 310 .

The directions for programming the remote are in the KV-27FV300 manual. That manual is available on the support page: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/product/kv-27fv300/manuals . The current link to the manual is https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/W000/W0006281M.pdf . See page 49 (page 56 of the PDF) for the procedure and the code list.

I hope this helps.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

DVD/VCR Combo

your model is "tuner free" that means it does not have the RF screw in connector. Buy one that has a tuner, preferably both ATSC(USA digital) and NTSC(USA analog)
