I had the same problem on 4 Brother HL-5250's, I checked the whole printer, and couldn't find a paper jam, yet the red printer light wouldn't shut off. I finally followed the instructions on Brother's website for removing a paper jam, and the solution for all 4 printers was paper stuck in the fuser cover. See below on how to open the fuser cover.
Pull the tabs at the left and right hand sides toward you to open the fuser cover (1).
I just posted the last solution and the picture didn't show up. Here's the link from HP, on how to open the Fuser Cover.

Turn the whole printer around an open all back panels i found paper jam in deep,,all fixed now
I tried without success. Finally, I opened the back of the printer and saw a paper jam that just started to surface at the top. It could not be located anywhere else and was very much hidden. By clearing this jam, I am back to working again.
This is a problem with my 5250 DN also.
Very frustrating. Sometimes I can keep hitting the Green GO button and I can print single pages of my document until all are printed - not very useful.
The paper tray is full, print job is sent to printer, adn only one page will be printed, lights come on, and then I have to hit the Go button for each page.

im having the same problem.
Same problem as the previous user mentioned.
status is on red and toner light is on. I've changed toner and checked it on another printer, it works, but when I put it in my printer the red lite and yellow toner lite go on and it doesn't print. I'm using a mac powerbook.
My red status light is on and the yellow paper light is blinking. There is absolutely NO paper jam. I am totally at a loss for what the hell is wrong!
Same problem: red status, paper light blinking, NO JAM. Help!
Same exact problem - even when i turn it on and off - unplug it from my network, etc - - the red status light stays on and the yellow paper light flashes! Drive me crazy .... any other ideas to sort this out?
Less than six months old, same problem as everyone else. Just started acting up one day. Turning off and on helped for a bit, but it's becoming a problem every time I print now. Status light goes red and paper light blinks yellow. No jams. Will occasionally print after restarting printer but becoming less and less likely.

Same as listed above. Â Out of nowhere.
Have tried all obvious actions to re-set. Â My guess is that there's some sort of computer chip/ component that's blown.
Has there been any response from Brother?
Same symptoms. Can't get any pages by pressing the Go button or rebooting the printer so I am completely dead.
same problem on mine, 8 months old.
I have the same problem. Did anyone ever get this fixed? If so, how?
Status light red. When I try to print it will start to run the paper through and then stop. No other lights are on but the red status light. I've gone through all the steps for paper jam but that's not it. This unit is about 1 year old. HELP!
Paper jam shown (status light red, paper LED blinking) when I try to print. Bypass route (pull down front section of front door) prints OK.
Found a solution - remove paper tray, look underneath just to the left of the feed rollers - there's 2 small black plastic sensor levers. The short one (nearer to the front of the printer) had become bent. It should dock fully (FULLY) into the moulding above it when it is lifted. I warmed mine up by holding the tip of a soldering iron close, and was able to bend it back into shape. Took 3 goes before it was straight enough - it should make an angle of about 30 - 40 degrees with the horizontal in its rest position.
The red light for status and yellow light for paper is on. I read the answer to the previous posts for this question and...none worked
