Hav a linksys wrt54g router how do i open a port
Well i went thru this article.. i jus want to share some piece of information with everyone.. certain ports are secured ports and these ports cannot be opened with port forwarding...
ex: port number 443
for this one can try a port triggering or the DMZ option in Linksys..
this really works out and it worked for me..
Thanks,
Just for clairity, the above solution is for Port Forwarding, not opening a port. The port is actually opened on your firewall. If you do not have a 3rd party firewall or hardware firewall installed AND are running Windows XP/Vista you most likely have to open the port in Windows firewall which can be accessed through the Control Panel. Windows will allow many applications to open common ports. If the port is open then the above solution will forward the port from the router to a specific computer/device.
Open up internet explorer and type:
192.168.1.1 into address bar and press enter.
A login box should appear.
If you haven't changed the password, the default should be
User name - leave blank
Password - admin
Once onto router home page, click on 'Application and Gaming' tab.
Name the port (whatever you are using it for)
Pick the range (if one port, eg 20000 to 20000)
Select both protocol
Enter the ipaddress of your computer (find this by going to Run -> type 'cmd' and press enter -> type 'ipconfig' and press enter ->then you should see your ip starting 192.168.1.???
Enter this address into the Linksys page and then press 'Save' at the bottom.
Port should now be open.
NB - If its to be used with Azureus, this article may help:

SOURCE: cant open a port
First, go and call linksys's technical support. TO do it urself, go to port range forwarding, and enter the information necessary. I would call them though.
