Goldstar Dehumidifier model# DH305Y7

Hi,
I bought a Goldstar Dehumidifier (model # DH305Y7) at walmart a year and a half ago. It worked well for one season and then when turning it on this spring it seemed that only the fan would turn on - now I don't even have the fan working. It's as if it's completely "off".

I took the front off (face of the dehumidifier containing the filter) and all the wires/switches are connected well and nothing is burned/fried, etc. Is there a fuze or something of that nature that could be blown, or a "sensor" or something? It worked fine for the small amount we used it last season and is relatively new, I'd like to fix it.

NICE site also, very informative and good tips!

Thanks, Vaughn

My LG DH30 Goldstar worked well for a week. After a week I emptied the tray and placed it back in as usual but the automatic shut off light won't go off. It isn't working now.

As it looks this model is a pc of junk!!! I also bought this unit from Wal mart a year ago and the unit will not even turn on!!!! I did check the overfill switch and also checked if power was going into unit. This model from Goldstar that is sold to Wal mart is obviously a inferior product. Need help I don't like spending a 150.00 Dollars for a product that only works 1 year!!!! The right action from the company would replace or give a certificate to replace at no charge.

Same story....worked great for about 2 seasons, then it won't work at all. I bought mine at Sears and took it back. They sent me to their parts and repair center. They called me a week later and said it was fixed and to pick it up. When I got there they wanted to charge me $112.00!! I showed them the manual with the 5 yr. all inclusive warranty on the back and they won't honor it. I left it sitting there. No thanks! I'm sure not paying $112 for a piece of junk.

The dehumidifier will not come on when plugged in. I took the unit apart. Sometimes it tries to come on for just a second. I have the capacitor in my hand and hope to locate one in the near future . I checked all the connections, checked the humidity sensor, looked for fuses. Nothing. I really think it is the capacitor. I think this because as i mentioned it wants to start up but doesn't. I believe the capacitor's purpose is to send a surge of electricity to get the motor running. Once the motor reaches the correct rpm's the capacitor shuts down.

Just in case anyone else comes here, Goldstar Dehumidifier DH 305Y7 has been recalled. It was recalled in 2009 as a possible fire hazard. Check your model/serial number here:http://www.30pintdehumidifierrecall.com/...

We just had the same problem with an LG. Worked well for two years, then this year the fan blows without taking any moisture out of the air. The inside of the base is rusty, as if a chemical was spilled (refrigerant, perhaps?!?). Everything else looks pristine.

LG sucks! I just went out and dropped $300 on a new (non-LG) dehumidifier.

Many LG degumidifiers have been recalled. go here with your make, model # and serial # to see if LG owes you a fix or replacement. Fortunatelly, there may be a free or minimum cost solution for those of us who bought cheap Chinese ****:

Unfortunately this is quite common for most DH's of this type. The only one that I have found that does not have a reputation for losing the fan or compressor after a year or two is the Whirlpool.

You can check to to see if the bucket switch is not stuck. Could also be a bad capacitor, discharge it and test it.

Goldstar dehumidifier model DH305Y6 is there an outlet on this model for a hose so can drain into sump pump?

I have a Goldstar dehumidifier, Model DH305Y6. I bought it about 5 years ago at a local Walmart. During the summer I run it in the basement, here in south-central Pa. When it was brand new it worked very well, for about 2 yrs. Then it began turning on & off very irregularly. At first I thought it was the sensor on the front of the coils. So I moved it to the lower left side of the coils, and had the same results. The other day the water heater in the basement developed a leak. About 300 gals. of water covered the floor. After sumping/wet-vac'ing down to a wet carpet, I pulled out the dehumidifier and plugged it in,(the filter was cleaned before put away last summer). It began its on/off cycling again. It runs for about 2-3 mins., then shuts off for about 5-10 mins. So, I took the On/Off switch apart and read the resistance. It read 48k, for the 50k switch. I turned the switch all the way left to all the way right and it went from 48k, down to about 8k. The two wires to the switch were attached to the #2 and #3 poles,(only 3 poles). I did some testing, then removed the wires and re-soldered them to the #1 and #3 poles. I put everything back together, and now it works. It runs constantly, but it works/runs just fine. I need to get the basement dry, so I will let it run until the job is done. In the Spring I will get a new 50k potentiometer,(on/off switch), and see if that works. I will post results if I remember to.

No Power

Only if ground wire had tuch something that was hot. Does your unit have a ground fault plug. If so reset plug. Sometimes thay go bad if you have had a storm in the area.

Will not run or turn on light will not turn on

Had a similar problem with Goldstar model DH305. A solution was already posted about cutting the two white wire going to humidity control, and it works until tray fills up (no control). However, if you want a complete fix which allows you to control by selecting humidity level go to the following site:

Goldstar dedumidifier DH305Y7 is holding the water up inside

If you coil for condensing the water out of the air is frozen it may cause the water to drip and bypass the drain collector. The frozen coil would be from running it with to low humidity or to high a setting.
