I have a memorex 6142u w/ no vista drivers???
This solution worked for me. I have 64-bit version of Vista. If you have 64-bit version of Vista this is the only thing that I have found to work.

What I did was used a different scanners driver for my Memorex 6142u. I used the Hamrick version of the Canon N1220U scanner driver. The best way to do this is to plug the USB cord into the computer. Vista will try and find the driver for you and fail. then go to device manager. It will say that it isn't working properly. Then fix the driver by selecting from the list of drivers that Vista has packaged with it.

Go to site http://support.visioneer.com/products/home/EOL/Memorex/
Download/save application file 6142. Check file properties, under compatibility select "run this program..." and choose Windows XP(Service Pack 2). if u do not have a vista option
Then run the program.

Powder Cord for Memorex 6142u scanner
The manual is available online at http://www.memorex.com/downloads/manuals/6142Scanner.pdf

The back page has the specifications for what kind of power cord you need, depending on what country you live in. The US one at least (120V/60Hz) is a very generic cord option and should be easy to find at any tech store. Good luck.

Computer says I need to remove software before reinstalling memorex 6142u scanner. Uninstall says it is uninstalled but when I run driver cd it tells me there is a previous installation that needs to be...
uninstall the driver via device manager then make sure that all folders that the setup created are erased
