Manuel Just found a Janome 344LX...I have a different model however it works my problem is that I dont know how to thread this machine...upper tension is different and a manuel would help...

Yes, the upper thread tension on the Jan ome MC 11000 SE can be manually adjusted. To do so, start by loosening the tension dial on the back of the machine until the tension is light enough. Then slowly turn the tension dial back up until you reach the desired tension.

The upper tension is too loose. The two threads should meet in the middle of the fabric for the tension to be correct.

Begin by setting all 4 dials on "3" which is the default setting on this model (often "5" on other machines). If a beginner, it would be best to thread the machine with four different colour threads according to the colours indicated on the tension dials (yellow, red, blue &green) so that it is easier to see how each thread responds as you adjust the dials. The two lower dials are for the loopers & must be adjusted until the upper & lower loops meet on the cut edge of the fabric - if below the edge: tighten the left dial & loosen the right dial (& visa-versa) just a fraction at a time. The two upper tension dials are for the needles: if too loose, loops form underneath the fabric below each needle, & if too tight the lower threads will show through to the upper side of your fabric where it is pierced by the needle. I have a janome and it is a good machine check your manuel all machines are pretty much the same the upper tension gets tricky sometimes.

sergers the most frustrating machines. Every time you change fabrics you go through a tension adjusting phase.

First make sure you have threaded the machine in the proper order. upper looper, lower looper, then needles from right to left. Always thread any machine while the presser foot lever is in the UP position.

If you ever break a thread... you MUST pull all threads and rethread using the proper order.

Ok that's out of the way. Pull all your threads and get out several pieces of the same fabric scrap. Thread each pathway with a different color. This will help you determine which thread is giving you fits. Sew a test strip. Which thread is loose? tighten/loosen that tension. Keep doing this until you have a well balance seam. Then clip the colored threads starting with the upper looper thread, tie off to your proper color for your seam pull the thread through and up through the throat plate. proceed in this manner with lower looper, right needle, left needle. Sew a test seam.

Hi, Liz. When you adjust your tension, be sure the pressure foot is down. The pressure foot needs to be up when you thread the machine so the thread will slip easily between the tension disks, but when you adjust the tension the disks have to be tight (pressure foot down).

There are other possibilities, but this is the best place to start running the problem down. Please let me know if this does the trick, ok, and if not, we can try something ele.

Here's a couple of solutions to try.


* Re-thread your machine
It may be threaded incorrectly. And when you re-thread it, make sure your thread goes in between your tension disks. (If you don’t know where your tension disks are, consult your machine’s manual.)

* Check your tension disks for dirt or lint
Lint or dirt between your tension disks may be keeping your tension from working properly. Clean out any you find.
