Cd burning hi am currently using a benq cdrw drive and until now have had no problems , however the last 10-20 discs i have burnt (audio discs in nero) no matter what speed i burn at the quality of the files is playing back at the most horendous sound quality , this tends to be crackling , not so much distortion but really bad playback, the settings are no different and the cdr's the same it just seems to have just kinda happened and yet the files i'm burning have been fine before so it can't be the quality of the mp3's either.... do i chuck and replace or could it be something very simple!!?? thanks in advance, (please help) matt

Am in process tranferring vinyl to cd using sony compact disc recorder and not computer, ran out of audio discs last week purchased some verbatim discs high speed rw but will not work on my machine can you...

Hi raymackie265
You are right , don't use cds for computer ( cdroms ) but well audio cds . Pay attention to this point when purchasing new stuff . Regarding the issue with cd-Rw , it's a compatibility issue with your Sony device and you need to check if the recorder will accept CD-RWs . If yes ( and it should be yes ) , try to find lower speed discs but you need to find audio cds . I ' m using a Pioneer recorder and it works fine with any kind of audio cds , not with cdroms .
Best regards ,
fanaudi .

I have a samsung cd-r/rw sw-240b when I try to save file on a cd in the d drive it give a message unable to write to drive D:

you cant save a file you must burn it to a disc
this might be in your burning software if you have already burnt data to this disc and are try to add more data you will need the burning software to support multisession or you might not have a cdrw disc or a faulty one
hope this helps

Bought CD-RWs that are 12x speed and my current read is 10x and write is 4x's is there a way to get around this so I can use these??

If you are saying CDRW is a media disc at 12x. And your CDRW burner can only burn at 4x and read at 10x. Just burn your media disc at 4x but it will gonna take long to complete. That way you are surely say that the burn disc even it is 12x can be read by the cdrom.

But if you are talking about burning it at high speed you should buy a CDwriter with high burn speed. For some input I actually burn cd's on 12x using high speed burner. The lower the speed burn but not too slow say 1x. Makes burn data works best.

Hope it helps.

Won't record record to CD-RW

First make sure your cdrw disc is blank. If it is blank try another good known cdrw brand disc and burn it in 12x speed for a good burn.

If it still fail check the software side of your cd rewriter first and lastly the cd rewriter unit.

CD Burning gets stuck

Try this: : Decreasing the burn speed If the drive is not recognizing the disc at all, skip to Step 4. Decrease the CD writer's burn speed by half to increase the likelihood of a successful burn. Decreasing the burn speed is a quick, easy way of increasing successful disc burning sessions, at the expense of taking more time to create a disc. The following steps are for Windows XP only. For Windows 98 and Me, decrease the write speed from within the software that you are using to write discs (RecordNow, Easy CD Creator)
  1. Click Start , and then My Computer .
  2. Right-click the drive icon, and select Properties .
  3. Select the Recording tab and reduce the Current Write Speed by half (for example, from 16x to 8x).
  4. Click OK and close the My Computer window. Try burning a CD. If the drive fails to create the CD, go to the next step.
Step 4: Setting up disc recording in Windows XP If the computer does not have Windows XP, skip to Step 6. If you are using Windows XP, use the following steps to ensure that native burning is enabled:
  1. Place a blank disc into the drive. NOTE: If the error <drive letter> is not accessible. Incorrect function. " opens, close it and continue using these steps to correct this problem.
  2. Click Start , and then My Computer .
  3. Right-click the writable drive icon, and select Properties .
  4. If a Recording tab is shown, select the Recording tab, select Enable CD recording on this drive , and then click OK . Try burning a disc again. Continue to the next Step if you are unable to burn a disc. If a recording tab is not shown, continue using these steps. Figure 2: Enable CD recording on this drive c00368150.gif
  5. Look for a Recording tab: If the Recording tab is not shown, Windows XP has not detected the drive as a recordable device. Use the following sub steps to enable the Recording tab:
    1. Click Start , Run , and type regedit in the Open field.
    2. Backup the registry: Select My Computer from the list, click File , Export , type a name that you will remember, and click Save .
    3. Click OK , and browse to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CD Burning\Drives
    4. Click the Volume key that matches the CD/DVD drive that is capable of writing discs. If only one drive is installed, one volume key is listed. If you have more than one drive, examine the data values (by double-clicking them in the right pane) to find the correct drive.
    5. With the volume key selected in the left pane, double-click the Drive Type value in the right-pane. Figure 3: Drive Type registry value (CDRW) c01367502.jpg
    6. Type the number 1 in the Value Data field if the drive is capable of recording to CDRW discs (including CD-R discs). Type a 2 if the drive cannot write to CDRW discs but can burn CD-R discs. NOTE: A value of 3 indicates that the drive is only capable of reading discs. Changing this value to a 1 or 2 enables Windows to view the drive as a recordable drive.
    7. Click OK , and close Registry Editor.

RECORD DROP OUT

Just bought this CDR 570 and not use yet.

Reading the instruction manual - yes, life experience has taught me some really useful stuff! -

Under 'Discs for recording' on page 7 it says at end of section

IMPORTANT:
To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of PHILIPS audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only'
Roughly translated I read this to me - 'don't blame us if the set don't work using other (non-compatible) discs' !!
