SOURCE: Wireless Router use with Wildblue Satelite Modem

You should be aware of a class action lawsuit that Belkin and the complaintent settled recently. The lawsuit was filed complaining that certain Belkin routers did not obtain optimal speeds as advertised.
Belkin has agreed to provide affected customers a discount program to purchase a new router. You will need to search elsewheres for the details.

SOURCE: Low signal strength on Belkin F5D 8233-4v3 wireless...

With speeds around 10 mb to the router over wireless you may want to consider checking if AUTO chanel is enabled or available on that model
If so then enable it.

Also consider moving the router if there are any other wireless devices nearby eg. cordless phone.

It may also be the the windows "zero wireless configuration" service is finding too many other wireless signals nearby that may be stronger than your own

If that is the case you may want to disable the service and set it to manual. Better still if you have a utility on the laptop (most have) then try set that to control the wireless setting instead of windows.

One of those last two items should help you maintain a better connection but only holds true if you have a reasonable connection to the router to start with.

You might also consider a cheaper wireless repeater to enable you to get better speeds

Hi im able to connect to te internet wireless with my computer but not on any other devise I need to get my security code, how can I do that?

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to connect to the Belkin Router Wirelessly and it is asking you for a Security Code, all you need to do is to access the router settings page and look for the Network Key or Passphrase.

To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.2.1, the Default password is blank

Click on Security under Wireless and look for the Security Key or Network Key (Passphrase)

Thanks for using Fixya.

How do i secure my belikn from outsiders using it

Enable wireless security on your router, so that other people will not be able to connect to your network.

To enable wireless security, access the setup page of the router through a web browser. Type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar.

By default, leave the password blank.

Once in the setup page, go to Wireless. Take note of your SSID. Then go to Security.

Select WEP or WPA, depending on the operating system and capabilities of your wireless computer. If in doubt, you may use WEP since it is the legacy wireless standard.

You can enter your WEP key manually by typing in the hex WEP key manually, or you can type a passphrase in the “PassPhrase” field and click “Generate” to create a WEP key from the passphrase.

Make sure to take note of the WEP key because you will be needing this for your wireless computer.

Click Apply Changes.

On your wireless computer, view the available wireless networks, select your SSID, then type the WEP key.

I hope this helps!

The light stays red, won't connect.

If the light on adapter is red it means that it cannot establish a wireless connection.

We need to get the wireless settings on the Belkin router and match those settings to your xbox adapter.

Use a computer to access the setup page of the belkin router. In a web browser's address bar type: 192.168.2.1.

It will prompt you to enter your router password. By default, just leave the password blank.

Once you are on the setup page, go to the wireless tab. Take note of the SSID, Broadcast SSID should be enabled.

Then Under Wireless go to Security. Take note of the Security Mode (WPA or WEP), Passphrase or WEP key.

Now, on your XBOX, go to System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."

Select the SSID. Select Infrastructure for the Network mode. Select the security type if WPA or WEP and enter the Passphrase or WEP key.

Save the settings then select Test Xbox Live Connection.

I hope this works! Please take a moment to leave a comment if you find this solution helpful. Your feedback is important and very much appreciated. Good luck!

How do i put a password on my Belikn G Plus router.

Hi,
To secure your wireless router you should specify a WPA or WPA2 key (depending what your router supports).
To set it up follow the steps below:
Open an internet explorer and type 192.168.0.1 on the address bar above and press enter.
The router will probably ask for a username and password which if you haven't set it will probably be "admin" for the username and "admin" or a blank password.
Then go to wireless settings and choose wireless security. Choose WPA2 if it is available (avoid WEP as it not very secure). Then enter a passphrase that you will remember and save your settings.
When you try to connect from your laptop or other wireless device it will ask for the type (WEP,WPA, WPA2) and the passphrase that you entered. That's it!

I am trying to configure my wireless router for wpa-personal wireless security

It is recommended to enable encryption on your wireless router before your wireless network adapters. Please establish wireless connectivity before enabling encryption. Your wireless signal may degrade when enabling encryption due to the added overhead. Before you start make sure your computer is directly connected to your router.

1- open a browser and on the address box type the following and press enter ---> http://192.168.0.1
2- on the next screen you will be asked for your routers username and password in order to login. If you have'nt change this information before you can use the following (click log in after)
Username : admin
Password: password
3- once you are in, on the left side menu click on
WIRELESS SETTINGS
4- on the next screen you will see below
WIRELESS SECURITY MODE:
Security Mode:-___________________
Next to Security Mode, select Enable WPA-Personal Security
5- a new menu appears below and asks for the following:
Next to Cipher Mode select--->Auto.
Next to Personal/Enterprise select---> Personal.
Next to Passphrase, enter a key (passphrase). The key is an
alpha-numeric password between 8 and 63 characters long. The password can include symbols (!?*&_) and spaces. Make sure you enter this key exactly the same on all other wireless clients.
Enter the passphrase again next to Confirmed Passphrase.
6- Click Save Settings to save your settings. If you are configuring the router with a wireless adapter, you will lose connectivity until you enable WPA-PSK (or WPA2-PSK) on your adapter and enter the same passphrase as you did on the router.

If you have further questions please do not hesitate to ask me...Good Luck!!!
