The frezzer is not working keeping items frozen, the botttom is not to cold, it is only 8 years old, and does it has freon

possible low on freon

Try cleaning the condenser radiator.

Can you feel air moving or hear the fan running in the freezer section? You said the freezer section is freezing well, but is it freezing really hard?

You have an automatic defrost problem. The refrigerator is not defrosting
Three important parts. It probably is one of these.
Defrost Timer
Defrost thermostat
defrost heater.
The fan is probably fine, but has nothing to do with Defrost
Check the heater continuity and change the heater defrost thermostat
then replace timer if those don't solve it.

uve probably got a freon leak check to see if compressor is running and fans inside are blowing if so then u probably have a freon leak

If it was layed down to move and not let sit for a while before using it again it would not work. Somtimes leaving in off and let it settle will straighten it out but not all time. The oil in the compressor get into the cooling lines and blockes the freon. Other than that, check the condenser coil which are near the compressor. They should be warm when the compressor is runnin. If they are not warm there is a compressor or freon problem.

If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.

do you see alot of frost on the rear panel of the frzer if so it has failed to defrost and repair is req or do a manual defrost until a tech can get to you if no frost sorry sounds like you have a weak tired compressor or leak of freon and being 30 yrs old it is not cost effective to repair this item....

clean the coil behind the fridge or under the fridge (where ever they are) and make sure both fans are running, the one in the freezer and the one underneath. If that don't work you may be low on freon
