I have a 1998 ford escort zx2 four cylinder an i just put a stater on it an while i was putting it on i accidentally broke a red and yellow wire on the harness an i dont know were it suppose to go it split out of the harness bellow starter wires

It looks like a split rear seat, 1/3 -- 2/3. The catches would be in the boot, upper left and right. Regs dictate it can't be done sitting in the seat.

put #1 piston at TOP DEAD CENTER and align your cam marks . then time igntition timing with a timing light

Make sure it is full of brake fluid first. If it is, check for leaks around the clutch master and slave cylinder. The master cylinder is mounted on the firewall below the brake master cylinder and towards the driver side. Follow the line to find the slave cylinder on front of the transmission. If you find no leaks, either the master and/or slave cylinder is bad or the clutch fingers are broken.

Look at the cable routing. Figure out how to replace it. Consult shop manual or Service manual.

Yes, All the years of the ZX2 utilize the same engine. 1998-2003 are all the same except for ECU programing and the MAF wiring. You should not have a problem.

I am sure the leak is the water pump based on years of Escort work, The ZX2 is equipped with a 2.0L DOHC V-Tech engine. The water pump is on the front (rt side of car) of the engine block, visible with the hood up. NAPA autoparts replacement instructions are to loosen the belt drive pulley from the pump BEFORE removing the serpentine belt. Once the four bolts are loose, take the belt off (good time to replace?) remove bolts and old water pump (four more bolts)- it will be tight, but it comes out- clean gasket area and install new gasket and pump in reverse order. That includes putting the pulley on and hand tightening the bolts, put on the belt, finish tightening the bolts to the pulley.
