That sounds like the battery is not charging properly. When in the charger there is enough voltage passing to power the handset, but when pulled off the charger it must rely on just the battery. I suspect you replaced your battery because you were having a problem, right? Your problem may be dirty charging contacts. Try taking a pencil eraser to your charging contacts on your handset and base. Try charging your handset again, and ensure your charge light comes on when doing so. Let it charge overnight. I have no dial tone but there is a humming noise on the line and the recorded messages will play. My DSL works. The phone has been off since Monday afternoon except for a short time yesterday morning. I've replaced the battery and I also plugged a brand new corded phone into the jack. Neither gave me a dial tone. I've plugged the new phone into the interface box and that didn't work. I really need my phone - I don't have a cell phone. Can you help
