It is almost always because you have blocked the hole where the sprayer goes up through the middle of the dishwasher. If it cannot pop up the dishes will not only not clean, but the food will just deposit onto the dishes especially the upper rack.

How hot or warm hot trays keep food warm?

Electric ones use a conductive heating element in the base that heats the container of food that is set on it. Other types of food warming trays (commercial) use hot water to keep food trays warm. Finally there are warming trays like chafing dishes that use an open flame with a fuel canister like sterno to directly heat the food tray.

A china serving dish has a small place where the paint has chipped. If the spot is covered with matching paint and then with clear nail polish, what is the prognosis? (other suggestions welcome!!!)

Inside.....NO.... not suitable for serving food.... etc. Also it will cook into your food ..... YUK!! Outside.....will not hold up. Are you talking about China ... dishes to eat on? Or the pot that goes in Crock Pots? If you are talking about dishes to eat on.... and depending on where the chip is...... that might work. Always put that dish at your seat..... then you can avoid the area with your food.

An enamel cookware baking dish that I particulary like fell and cracked on the outside (red surface) and there is also a small chip in the inner area where the food is cooked. Is there anything I can do to...

the crack may get bigger with use and any repair would have to be with foor safe materials / you could only use it with a coking bag ( makes cleaning easy . but its probably time to replace it , mm

Wondering if the pot can be put in dish washer?

Putting it in the dishwasher will not affect it. The only problem you might run into is having to wash it by hand anyway do to the caked on food around the top rim if it doesn't come off.
