Hotpoint microwave key pad parcially not working

The pads actually share some of the same lines inside the touch pad. There are silver oxide traces inside there. If a trace inside breaks, it depends on which trace breaks as to what pads dont work. If a trace that is common to say pads 1,3,5,7 you would lose function of those pads. 1.....2.....3.....4......5....... it is sort of set up like that inside wher eone connects to another and so on. So lets say a line between 2 and 3 breaks then you would lose pads 3, 4, 5 and any others on that same line. Will have to replace touch pad, cannot repair.

What is the symbol --se-- on a amana serial number1000001gt radarange microwave oven mean

"SE" means you have a defective membrane keypad.

With your full model number, I could have given you detailed instructions and parts numbers.

But without that, I'll have to just be generic.

If your model's membrane keypad is available as a separate part, that's usually the cheapest but most involved way to fix it.

Here is a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

If it's not available separately, then you can replace either the control panel frame assembly, which comes with a new keypad on it, or the entire control box / controller assembly.

There is a a YouTube video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The cooktop lights of my whirlpool microwave have quit working and both bulbs are in good condition. I know how to access the fuses. which fuse needs to bee replaced?

In some cases, it may be a fuse on some Whirlpool models, but your control circuit board may need repair, too.

There should be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing. It will help you find the fuses. See video link below.

We see (and repair) this type of board failure a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one year guarantee.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Or you can order a new control circuit board from the Pros here, our favorite supplier.

My microwave is completely dead. I have checked the fuse in the plug and it is fine. Any suggestions?

Hello,

What you are to do to solve the problem is to do a general troubleshooting on your oven below are instruction to follow.

The Microwave is a counter top model with a variety of preset cooking options, including timed cooking at a variety of power levels and sensor-cooking settings for popcorn, rice, beverages and single-serving reheating.

The sensor cooking and reheating features detect increasing humidity levels inside the microwave and automatically adjust cooking time for various types and amounts of food. This microwave also includes a turntable and an electronic control panel.

Instructions below are step by step solution for your oven

  1. Check to see if the microwave will start. If it will not start and the display panel is blank, you may have a power problem. Unplug the microwave and then plug it back in, making sure that all three prongs of the power cord are fully inserted into the wall outlet. If this doesn't work, check your home's fuse box. Reset the circuit breaker to restore if necessary.
  2. Ensure that the microwave door is fully closed. Press the Clear/Off button to cancel any previous cooking instructions. Re-enter your cooking program, including cooking time and food weight if necessary, and press Start.
  3. If "Err" appears on the microwave display, press the Clear/Off button and reenter your cooking program. The "Err" message will appear during the sensor-controlled programs (Popcorn, Rice, Beverage or Reheat) if the door is opened before steam is detected or if no steam was detected within the maximum amount of time allowed by the microwave. Be sure to leave the door closed during these programs, at least until time is shown counting down on the display panel.
  4. If your control panel will not work or if an "L" is displayed on the screen, press and hold the Clear/Off button for a full three seconds to unlock the control panel.
  5. If your sensor reheat program is resulting in under- or overcooked food, first try decreasing the amount of food in the microwave; the sensor programs are designed for single servings of food. The sensor reheat function works by measuring humidity inside the microwave--do not use a tightly-covered dish with this setting because no moisture will be able to escape and the food will overcook. Be sure that cooking containers are dry; moist containers will increase the humidity in the microwave and mislead the sensor, resulting in undercooked food.
  6. If your turntable is not rotating, first check to ensure that your food container is positioned so that it can freely rotate without hitting the microwave's interior walls; using a smaller food container can fix this problem. If the turntable still will not rotate, lift the turntable from its support and replace it carefully, ensuring that it rests evenly on its support.
Good luck.

Thank you and thanks for using fixya.

Re: Oyster Micro-wave 1000 watts-LED Panel not working correctly.

you probably have to replace the keypad control, or you could try checking the connections to the keypad by taking the cabinet and checking the connections to see if they're loose.

There is a red LED panel on the front displaying a key symbol - it seems to lock the system and I can't use it - how do I swithc this off.

It may reset if you power cycle it..meaning unplugging the power cord and then plugging it in but if you want a detailed answer , you will need to provide a brand and model with your question.. Also, does the control panel have a lock button that you can press to toggle it on or off?
