Guardian Rv Generator 4800 Watt, Gasoline, Primepact 50G Logo
Posted on Sep 30, 2010

My generac 40g rv generator will start fine but no power. I noticed that when it starts the microwave will power up for just a second. I can turn the generator off and on a couple of times and then it will power up. Whats up with that?

It may be demagnetised. If you turn off the generator before unplugging the load this may happened. Try to put a strong magnet (like those from loudspeakers) in contact with the body of alternator. I do this in the past and it work.If you do not know how to do this ask an electrician, he can help you .

Generac guardian rv generator starts and runs but after a couple minutes the power stops.....generator still runs??

Usually the generator will shut down if the ac is not present coming out of the generator. You stated that it still runs but no power on the output. Check your breakers first to make sure they are working properly. Depending on what board you have you can check to see if ac is present getting back to the board as well. If your board does not have this then they are using the frequency as a safety disconnect feature. That would lead you back to the regulator or loose connection or..dirty slip rings if this unit has brushes.

Generac generator manual

Usually generators that have stood for a very long time loose the magnetism in the ignitor coil magnet. With care, if you can find the low voltage wire into the generator 'motor' you can apply a 9v battery briefly to it and spark it into life. Use the generator if you get it generating, for a good period and don't leave it unused for a long while.
*IF YOU DONT KNOW AND UNDERSTAND ELECTRICITY DO NOT TRY THIS. GENERATORS CAN KILL*

Guardian rv generator starts popping when turning on hair dryer. Why does this happen?

What is the wattage of the hair dryer?. It sounds to that your hair dryer is drawing to much power for the generator.
