Need directions for recording the greeting on the main line of system

To record a new greeting, you must use the handset. Press Menu and use the Up/Down arrows to reach the "Answering System" line. Press OK and then navigate to the Greeting. Press OK again. Select the line "Record Greeting" and press OK. Select Yes to confirm recording a new greeting and press OK. After the beep, hold the handset about 8" away and speak clearly. Recite the entire message that you wish to record; the message must be under 2 minutes long. Press OK to save the greeting and press End to exit the sub-menu. Make sure that the answering system is on (and set to pick up on fewer rings than any other voice mail system, if your telephone provider offers one, for example). Make sure that the memory is not full. The system can only accept 18 minutes of recordings, including the greetings.

THe 4406 works on a few systems? When you check voicemail, what does the voicemail speak to you? Example: "Welcome to Merlin Messaging" or "Welcome to IP office".

To enter viocemail administration, press Feature 983. if your system has 2 digit intercom #s your password is 120000 if your system has 3 digit intercom #s your password is 1020000. once you have entered the password you will see 3 selections you can make .use the three soft keys under the display and select AA (auto Attendant). next press greeting and greeting again. next it'll ask for the greeting number your probably working with greeting 1. press record to start and ok when finished. dont forget to save the greeting or it will be deleted if you exit early. hang up when finished

Depending on the type of voicemail you have, you''ll have to login to the admin mailbox. That's done by pressing your voicemail key or intercom 777. If you have a Partnermail VS the admin mailbox is 99 with the default password of 1234.If you mave a Partner Messaging System the admin mailbox is 0 with a default password of 1234 or 123456. Once your into the admin mailbox press 9 for admin programming. 3 for greetings, 1 for the auto attendant #.press 1 for the day menu or press 2 for night menu and 6 to modify the menu. press *# to skip selector codes.Press 1 to record your new greeting 1 to stop recording. Press *# to approve or 21 to re-record hang up when finished.

To access the System Administrator Mailbox:
1. Dial into voice mail: From any phone on system dial 150
2. When the system answers, dial [*] + [#] followed by the System Administrator Mailbox number: (# 0 0 )
The system will announce: “Mailbox 15-00”, which is the System Administrator Mailbox number.
3. When requested, enter the System Administrator password. Default = [9]+[#]+[56].

How to program greetings
1. Access the System Administrator Mailbox as described above. The System Administrator Mailbox Menu plays.
2. Press [1] to access system greetings. The system will prompt you for the greeting number
3. Enter the desired greeting number.
For example:
1 = Default Day greeting
2 = Default Night greeting
3 = Default Temporary greeting
4. You will be prompted with the following three choices:
Press [1] to Review.
Press [2] to Record. You will be prompted to record the greeting
When you finish recording, press [#] to save the recording.
You can then
Press [1] to Review.
Press [*] + [*] + [*] to exit the system completely

Unfortunately, Office systems are all controlled by a central system that requires an administrator to make changes such as recording the system answer menu, creating menu systems, etc. This is usually done by the I.T. department or private contractor. Sounds like maybe you have a gap in personnel. If that's the case, you'll need to call Nortel for support. Thanks for using Fixya!

You did not mension what type of voicemail you have installed with the phone system so I'm assuming it is also a Norstar.
To record your Primary Greeting:
1. Press " Feature 9 8 1 "
2. Enter your password ( Default is 0000 )
3. Press " OK or * "
4. Press " Admin or 8 "
5. Press " Greet or 2 "
6. Press " Record or 1 "
7 Press " Prime or 1 "
Display should read " Record new ? "
8 Press " Yes "
Display shows " Record Greeting : "
9. At the tone record your Greeting
10. Press " OK or # " to end recording

IF you know the password for the mailbox then log into the voicemail by dialing the Stratagy access code, after Stratagy answers dial * , then your user ID mailbox number plus #, then your security code plus #. The User Main Menu plays, press 2 to change your greeting, the Select Greeting Menu plays, press the greeting number, the Record Menu plays, press 2 to record your greeting, Record greeting, as soon as you finish press #, the Record Greeting Menu plays, press 1 to review or 2 to re-record. Press 9 to save and return to the Select Greeting Menu and 9 again to return to the User Main Menu, hang up at this point.
