This is just one of MANY solutions to your problem. It could be also that your router is AutoRenewing which is not easily identified as an issue on your computer but can be a big issue on your Xbox Live as it will disconnect you every time it attempts to AutoRenew.
Also ready this link on how to setup a router for Xbox Live. It is Linksys Wireless-G but has the basic principles down for your setup of most any router.
Maximum transmission unit is 1500, but for the Xbox 360 it "must" be set within the range 1364 - 1492
Since there's no MTU settings for the TG782T. your only choice is to replace it with routers like Linksys, Belkin, Netgear.
If this is the first time you have connected your Xbox 360 to Xbox Live, you will probably be prompted to apply an update. If there are no updates, the Xbox Live Connection page shows that you're connected to Xbox Live. Press the Y button on your controller to continue.
If testing the Xbox it says DNS failed, then update your NETGEAR router firmware:
From your computer, open an Internet Browser and navigate to http://kb.netgear.com to download the firmware for your router.
Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
Click Router Upgrade on the top left pane under Maintenance, browse for the firmware downloaded and click Upload.
that happens alot when one or more device (for instance, the xbox 360 and a cpu) are trying to use the same ip address
make sure you have the xbox 360 and all other devices (cpu's/printers) that are connected to the router set to aquire ip address automatically
You need to enter the router configuration. How you do this varies by
model, but usually involves typing your gateway address into a web
browser. Then, you need to assign your xbox an internal IP address and
activate port triggering or forwarding (depending on the sophistication
of your device) to send information on the designated ports to the Xbox. Was this solution helpful? Show your Appreciation by rating it RICHARDM69
