I have a 1989 ford e150 5.0L. have to hold pedal to floor for it to start and it runs ruff and coughs when its running sometimes stalls when driving but will run great at times. oh and idles high and low...

I had an 88 that did something like that, it would idle up and down it seemed to be worse when the engine was cold. It turned out to be the MAP sensor, I never did get a check engine light. A friend of mine had the same truck and we swaped sensors back and forth until we found the problem.

My 2002 mazda tribute wont start at times

I have a 2003 tribute that was doing the same thing. It started right up but if you stopped at the store and came out it would start but not stay running. After waiting a couple hours it would start right up. We replaced the idle control valve and put in a new air filter because it was quite dirty and so far no problem. Give it a try.
