SOURCE: The recorder will not receive

You may need to check with your provider to see if your cable box is even cable of receiving those channels and that type of content. It may just be that your box is not compatible. Check with them and let me know what you find.

Thanks

SOURCE: I get no sound or

I'm having sound problems with Gem too, as are others, apparently. If you are getting program info but no picture for either of these, however, I suspect that you may only have a SD digital receiver, rather than a HD (High Definition) one. Can you receive the One HD sports channel? If not, that will be it for sure.

SOURCE: No sound on 90 HD Digital Channel

You need to get in touch with Lg and they will help you. All you need is for them to either post you a usb with software or they can email it to you and you can put it on a usb and put it on your tv via usb port and update the software on your tv.

The frequency for the new channel is not on your tv but they will give you the software to update so it works.

Good luck!

I have some knowledge or cars . is this something i can do myself

Before Gem removal, You need to upload gem configuration into diagnostic tool, when new gem is in place, download configuration from diagnostic tool into new gem. According to my info, it's not a simple remove/replace. Just between you and me, I don't have those type diagnostic tools. I'd take it to the shop. Just my opinion.

My lg tv does NOT have sound for Gem channel... All the rest are fine except for gem!! How can this be fixed?

Try re-tuning the channels, the original auto tune might not have picked up the correct frequencies.

When connected to the Panasonic DVD player I get a message when on One HD and any channel above that - "Unable to decode HD". How can I connect to these channels through the player?

You can't, without an external HD set top box connected via the recorder's inputs. HD is not a standard digital tuner format for this or any model Panasonic DVD recorder that I am aware of. Panasonic do not offer a way for the user/owner to skip the HD channels (which cannot be decoded) in these units. You can only skip analogue channels in VCRs/DVD recorders (which feature an integrated SD digital/analogue tuning system) - stupid really. It just means you need a separate box to get all the available HD channels through the unit.

Yes, 7mate (channel 73) is HD (but it isn't specified on their website or in the EPG) as is Gem ( channel 90) and of course One HD.

I assume your machine has a built in SD digital tuner.

I have an LG LCD TV and receive perfect video on CH 73 Mate and CH 90 Gem but receive no audio for either. Model code is 42LY3DE - AA.AAUYLH

This is a real odd problem. If these are the only channels this occurs on, I would make sure that the set is not in SAP audio mode. This is switchable through it's on screen audio menu. If you have other sets in the house that you can also receive these channels, see if they have sound. If not, it has got to be a cable company issue. If they do, I would check with LG to see if they have a software upgrade that addresses the problem. Their customer service number is 1800-243-0000.
Most manufactures are pretty tight with their software so they want to deal with the customer one on one.
I hope this helps,

I get no sound or picture on channels 90 (GEM) and 73 (7mate) but i do get their guide. Every other channel is fine. I have done auto channel search a few times and nothing has helped.

I ended up ringing LG who we got our plasma tv with and they sent me out a usb device that I plugged into my tv and now I get sound!

Gem Sound clipping problem

First of all the EXA-3940 is rated at 350watts per channel in to 8 ohms. The 1400 watts is bridged into a 4 ohm load. Second, the speakers can handle 1000Wats peak with an average of 600 continuous (i'm guessing). That tells me that the amp is underpowered for the speakers. The sensitivity of the amp is such that the mixer is overdriving the input stage. That is what is causing the clipping. If you are looking for more volume, you are probably better off purchasing another amp and running them in bridge mode, 1 per speaker cab. Be careful though, not to overdrive the speaker cabinets either.
