Playing DVDs Hi. I got this model second-hand, and so far, haven't had problems. Until today (well, last night.) I have hooked up a Toshiba sd-k970 DVD Player into the tv. As I said, we've had no problems so far with it. But last night, we went to watch a movie, and we couldn't get it to play (got sound for a few seconds. It's set to channel 2). A techie friend said the tv is some sort of timer. How do I turn this off/bypass it? I have the original remote, but no owner's manual.  Thanks!

Try to use an Audio-Video(AV) cable(it has two or three wires, ask for it at the electrics shop),and push the button AV on your remote control.

The screen goes black every few seconds while playing a dvd. I've tried cleaning the player already and still have the same problem.

I am having a similar problem with mine... same model. It worked fine last night but this morning, went on the fritz. It started pausing every few seconds and so we took the DVD out. This evening, I tried to play a number of different DVDs but now the player will not even read any of the disks. I've had this DVD player for about 6 years so maybe it is just time for something new!?

Toshiba sd-k970 dvd player sound but no video.

I presume that you've selected the correct inputs on the TV? Go for HDMI if you have it on your TV. If not use the yellow (composite) and ensure you have nothing in the S-Video (Toshs don't like using composite and S-video at the same time).

After I reinstalled my pc, the toshiba dvd-rom (sd-c2502) only plays cds, not dvds.

Try re-installing your the driver for your dvd rom. Then try to put different dvds and check if it can read from your drive. If problem remains, I suspected it's your dvd rom is faulty

Won't play any DVDs

I mostly first always recommend a dvd lens cleaner to clean the lens incase there is something on the lens.

Is the player underwarranty? the lens may have a issue other than dirt and might need to be replaced.

What happened last time it worked fine? try unpluging the dvd player for 5 minutes and try again.

Toshiba SD 4800 dvd player

I've had the same symptoms on the last two Sony DVD's that I've rented. I managed to get around this by hitting one of the menu buttons after the loading message stopped.

Some DVDs fade in and out

If you have it hooked up through your VCR this will happen. Try hooking it directly to your TV.
