Playing DVDs Hi. I got this model second-hand, and so far, haven't had problems. Until today (well, last night.) I have hooked up a Toshiba sd-k970 DVD Player into the tv. As I said, we've had no problems so far with it. But last night, we went to watch a movie, and we couldn't get it to play (got sound for a few seconds. It's set to channel 2). A techie friend said the tv is some sort of timer. How do I turn this off/bypass it? I have the original remote, but no owner's manual. Thanks!
Help...darn toshiba dvd sd-k970 player just won't transmit picture...or something like that. It looks like it is reading the disk...but no picture is transmitted and the digital viewer on player shows 1 then 2 etc. I can not find my owners manual for guidance. I am having a similar problem with mine... same model. It worked fine last night but this morning, went on the fritz. It started pausing every few seconds and so we took the DVD out. This evening, I tried to play a number of different DVDs but now the player will not even read any of the disks. I've had this DVD player for about 6 years so maybe it is just time for something new!?
I presume that you've selected the correct inputs on the TV? Go for HDMI if you have it on your TV. If not use the yellow (composite) and ensure you have nothing in the S-Video (Toshs don't like using composite and S-video at the same time).
Try re-installing your the driver for your dvd rom. Then try to put different dvds and check if it can read from your drive. If problem remains, I suspected it's your dvd rom is faulty
I've had the same symptoms on the last two Sony DVD's that I've rented. I managed to get around this by hitting one of the menu buttons after the loading message stopped.
same problem plug imn and red light flashes
