How do I fix my refrigerqtor hotpoint double door not defrostiong

Generally, if you unplug the refrigerator and set the freezer and refrigerator temperature controls to off then plug it back it, this will put the refrigerator in forced defrost mode. Keep the doors closed and allow defrosting to last for about 20 minutes. Then unplug again and reset the temperature controls to mid-range or a little above, and plug it back in. If this does not reset the defrost cycle, you probably need service.

The defrost timer is part of the main control board located on the rear of the unit. Here is the new updated board for that unit.

The part comes with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.

My recently acquired used hotpoint refrigerator model number hss251fmb ww freezer side freezes sometimes but at times it just refrigerates, the refrigerator side almost never gets cold....(enough...

I would check for ice build up in the freezer area. Take the food out, remove the shelves and then remove the 4-6 screws to take the inner back panel off and take a good look for ice. The defrost assembly might not be working if you have an ice build up.

You also need to see if the fan is working or not.

You can either let the unit sit with the door open and defrost naturally or use a hair dryer to speed it up some.

1984 panasonic fridge defrost timer

That panasonic model number doesn't come up in my parts catalog. But defrost timers are pretty generic. Most refers in that era use the same timer.Locate the timer and remove it.Take it to any appliance parts store and they can surely match it up with a universal timer that they have in stock.Cost is less than 25.00.

Freezer side of refridgerator doesn't freeze foods properly and also makes only about 10 cubes a day. food side works fine, it's a Hotpoint model #HSS251FMB WW

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model
