Go to www.logitech.com and contact the people there about their Harmony remotes. Chances are, they'll have one compatible with your Magnavox. Codes are provided by the Harmony site during online programming. All the site generally needs is a product name and model number. Remotes "ballpark" around $80.00 Cdn.
There may be a way to get to the audio and video without a remote by first pressing the menu button on the front of the set (if there is one), but the easiest fix is to invest in a good universal remote which will allow you to open the full TV menu. From the start up menu the remote will, after matching the code, allow you to go deeper into the start up menu to the audio/video menu and on to the "regular TV mode".
