SOURCE: Refrigerator warm, frost in freezer

take back panel off freezer and check for ice build up which will block air flow and temps will rise. melt off carefully with a hairdryer.make sure drain is also clear and use hot water and patience if blocked with ice. if fault re-occurs, you have a fault with defrost system

SOURCE: refigerator not cooling and hot to the touch

No, RD...
You can leave the fridge plugged in and it'll be safe. There's a safety device mounted on the compressor to insure this.

Now, have you checked the condenser fan yet? Is it turning? Seriously... the condenser fan is what is responsible for keeping the freon temp's correct. If the fan isn't working, you get "hot to the touch" between the fridge and freezer.

Please check the fan?

I have a GE French door refrigerator. Model gsh25isxbss. It’s sporatically getting warm. Came home one day and it was hot. Both the refrigerator and freezer were warm. Checked the compressor fan and it’s...

You need to check to see if the compressor is running when the system starts getting hot. Issues that are going to make it it warm are as you said, a compressor failure, but it could also be a condenser fan sporadic failure, dirty condenser coil, or even a partially capillary tube.

Also check you evaporator coil on the inside of the refrigerator when it gets warm. If the evaporator fan fails. You'll have no air flow across the coil and once it freezes over, you will lose any convention cooling you had and the box will get warm and the ice on the coil will continue to grow

Hello, my LG Refrigerator (lmx28988st) is acting up. The fridge stays cold, but the freezer won't freeze (its stays around 45F). It has the french doors for the fridge, 2 drawers for bottom freezer.

Have you confirmed the freezer door switch is functional? If this switch fails to detect the door is shut (you may or may not get an alarm), the unit will fail to cool properly. Meaning the actuator will not allow cold air to be diverted to the freezer.

If all else fails, you may try contacting LG directly by clicking here:

Why do freezer coils ice up on my Stainless Steel Whirlpool refrigerator (model GB2SHDXTS)?

On your model your cntrl board has a relay that can stick causing the compressor to always run even when the unit is turned off or in defrost. turn the fridge off, move the temp of the freezer to it's warmest setting and it should display a line in the freezer and fridge temp display. listen to hear if the compressor is running in back of the unit. if it is you need part number: 12868513

The fridge is working whit out stop

If the unit is running all the time and is not freezing everything then open the back fiberboard panel and clean out the coils in the back. Check to make sure the condenser cooling fan is running also. If the compressor is running and the condenser fan is not running there is a problem with the condenser fan. The compressor, condenser and evaporator fans all should be running at the same time. the condenser fan can be stuck... have dry bearings... of simply has failed. Before removing the back cover... touch the chassis were the doors close... it should be warm but not VERY warm to the touch. If it is VERY warm to the touch... for sure you have a problem with the condensor fan.

Since you did not say anything other than the fridge is working whit out stop, I have to assume at this point that the evaporator fan is running in the freezer compartment just fine.

I really need to know:
1. Is there ice in the back of the freezer compartment?
2. Is the evaporator fan running?
3. Is the condenser fan running?
4. Are the condenser coils clean?

One of the above has a problem... you just need to identify which one.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Freezer not freezing

Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).
