This is due to the fact that your phone is simlocked for one provider, in your case Orange. You have to ask them for the code to unsimlock it According to the countries, this can be done for free (in several european countries, you have to prove you've been owning the phone for at least 3 to 6 months and your provider has to give you this information). There are other possibilities to have your phone unsimlocked : some shops do it, sometimes legally, sometimes not, with costs that may vary..

Yes...It's Not Unlocked So that you cannot use the Sim....You need Unlock means You can get the Unlock Code at

This may sound simplistic ... insert the correct SIM card.

Did you receive same with the phone? are you trying to use one from another phone? is one required at all? who is your carrier? What did they recommend to resolve?

Try this, since it seems you have a sim probably from another phone, there is that possibility that the formatting is not compatable with your new phone. Get a SIM to USB adapter. Plug it in to your computer USB. Copy the data from your SIM to your computer. Clear (format) the SIM using your computer. Put the clean SIM back into your phone - see what happens.

software reset.. download the update software update off the sony ericsson website... install it... all you need is a usb cable. i just fixed my brothers phone.. using the software update. it was doing the same thing... hope that helps ... BEWARE THOUGH IT WILL RESET YOUR PHONE meaning all your contacts and anything not on your sim and memory card will be deleted

go to a company store that your phone works with and tell them you would like an unlock code so you can use the phone abroad they should help you without a problem

When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :-
This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone.
They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone.
Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in this phone or sign up with another phone provider using this phone.
You could ring the phone provider and ask for the unlock security code because you are going overseas and wish to use your phone with a prepaid SIM card from another country. This maybe a free service.
The other way to get your phone unlock is to use a phone unlocking company on the Internet, they usually charge a couple of Dollars for their services. Use Google and search for "Security unlocking code” companies in your area.
