I have an optoma gt720 projector that has been working great for the last 6 months or so. Last night, for no reason, the screen went almost completely dark. The lamp is still working, the warning light is not on, so I assume that I can rule out the lamp burning out, but the projection is barely noticeable even in a dark room. The left side of the screen is slightly more illuminated but it is nothing but a dim blur. I use this projector as a computer monitor/ television and I do not have a backup for either, so waiting weeks for a factory repair is not an attractive option. Is this anything that I would be able to solve? Thanks

SOURCE: Optoma MovieTime: The Lamp that Won't stay on

its definitly a cooling issue.the temp sensor is working because it shuts the unit down.when a lamp goes it goes just like a light bulb.you can open up the unit and locate the fan take it out and go to a radio shack a match it up to a universal fan.

SOURCE: optoma projector switches off after 5 mins

AS regretable as this sounds component failiure was my first thought .. It's not the bulb temp sensor as the fan is opperating and that usually cuts all power .
You may find that as you have a bulb ( usually worth more than the units they reside in ) rather than a repair another unit of Ebay would be a safer and more economic conclusion ... Regards Vortash

Why won't my Optoma DV10 projector won't turn on?

On an Optoma DV10 if its not the lamp timer, then it might be a cooling fan that needs replacing. Take out the old one, and look-up its part number online. If you don't feel confident taking it apart, have a qualified person do this.

Do I need a HDMI cable to get a HD picture for my XBoX 360 to my Optoma GT720 projector

Yes you do need an HDMI cable to hook your 360 to your Optoma GT720 projector, that is the only interface it has that is compatible with an xbox 360. You can get an HDMI cable for a low price though, just $6.99 from the link I have at the bottom of my answer here...

Please make sure you rate my answer 4 thumbs up, it is extremely important to me. I would be forever grateful if you could do so. If you need more help on this question please just respond to my answer here and I will get right back to you.

EP739 projector has been overheating the last 6 months.

Its getting old...and generating more heat...
There are fans inside the projector that **** in ambient
air and blow it across the parts...A quick fix might be
to lower the room temperatrue a few degrees...or
you could get a small fan, place it along side the projector
and have it blow additional air into the projector...

The projector is running at borderline temperature...

Also, make sure it is on a flat hard surface...and not
resting on a cloth or towel or rug...there isn't much space
between the bottom of the projector...to **** air in...and it
needs all that space...

You may want to make sure the AC line voltage is 110 -120 VAC
even a slight drop in this voltage will cause the projector to run
less efficient which means running hotter...

The optics are dusty in an Optoma HD32 projector, I require a service manual which would indicated the correct method to remove, clean and reinstall the optics.

go to http://www.tantht.blogspot.com/ . He has excellent instructions for dismantling an optoma projector. However I took it one step further. I still had a problem with overheating due to dust after I followed his steps twice. Then I also removed the back of the projector which gave me much better access to an internal fan. I could see a substancial amount of dust coming out when I blew compressed air through it this third time around. It has been working fine for 6 months since.

Optoma HD65 bulb only 108 hrs old having difficulty starting up

Use the warranty! since you anly had it for 8 weeks, and the waaranty last for one year, go back with it and get it repaired or get a new bulb. A buld last at least 2500 hours, in eco mode it last for over 3000 hours.

Good luck to you

A terrible sound

It's the lamp. The same exact thing happened to me, my projector started making a loud whinning noise and the picture quality got really dim. At first i thought it was the fan too but after alittle online research i found out that that when the lamp bulb shatters it does this, so i went a got a replacement and it fixed all the problems. :)

As a last resort only: There is a small screw on the laser unit that adjust the laser intensity. Small adjustments (keep a note of the original angle and other angles that you try) can help but be verycareful or you will render the laser as useless as **** on a boar.
