Heat strip installation

How hard is it to install the 5600 btu heat strip in my dometic 13500 btu rv air conditioner

  • beeser Jun 01, 2008

I just tried to install the Dometic heat strip on my new Penguin model and one of the AC (1/4") mounting bolts interferes with the guard. Does the guard have to be notched in order to install it?

It was quite simple, just installing the heat strip and my model only required removing the grill cover and mounting the element. The other optional installations didn't apply to my model.

thanks,
Don

I have a Dometic 13500 BTU AC. The fan runs but will not cool?

Sounds like it's low on refrigerant, if you haven't used it for a while they normally leak at the compressor shaft seal

Installing rv roof airconditioner heat strip

I see what you see also in the manual. The difference is the Heat Strip package that part is optional and the 600212-001 with the optional heat strips becomes the new 600315-001 I talked to Dometic Duo-Therm and the models are the same but they both are not heat pumps but the new heat strip package comes on when told to go into heat mode when you change the thermostat to heat. The part you purchased will fit both model numbers you listed for your roof top air conditioner. Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a 13500 btu ac dometic penguin model on pan that is old and would like to replace with 15000 btu ac of any other manufacturer or another dometic what are my options ..I do not have ducts and do not...

Your choices are another Dometic or a Coleman
I prefer the Coleman But the amount of extra cooling you will get by stepping up to a 15K unit will probability not be worth the added cost

Is it hard to install a heat strip in a model#57915541 serial#54936348 air conditioner

Hi, like most of the RV roof tops, they will have a manual showing the type and wattage of heat strips you're system calls for. It comes as a unit, pre-wired to fit and set in place. You should have no problems installing a heat strip kit, but make sure you get the right one that the unit calls for as they do make several models. Very self explanatory. Also, be sure that you're system calls for a heat strip package?? Good Luck, and if you need more help please contact me. Very easy to set in place and plug in. Sincerely,

Dometic a/c, duotherm thermostat, turns right back on after it reaches desired temperture.

I have a dometic 13500 BTU Roof mount a/c. It is set up with the duo-therm analog thermostat. The system cools fine. The problem is that the a/c gets down to the right temp, then it turns off like it should but turns right back on within a few seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
