Owner's manual for bikes will not tell you how to use the gears. Just Google "how to shift gears on a bike" Find one that shows the same type of shifters you have (does not have to be the same brand of bike). Better yet, find a local bike co-op or bike shop to show you on a bike stand before you hit the road (hopefully not literally).

need to know how to recieve a new owners manual. when purchased at Walmart the bike was outside and the book was wet and molded, pages stuck together. Need assistance with adjusting the rear gears.

After that any bike shop will be happy to show your daughter how to work the shifters and brakes of her bike properly, and maybe even give some other useful tips like how to oil the chain or pump up the tires so she is riding safe.
most bicycle owners manuals do not explain bicycle mechanics and are rarely of any use other than basic bicycle safety. You shifting issue is not specific to your brand of bicycle anyway, as it is simply a mechanical issue. Probably a good cleaning of the drivetrain and re-lube would make the bike shift better. Use a degreaser and stiff brush and water and clean up the chain and the chain rings and the gears or cogs on the back hub. Follow up with a good chain lube.
Go here, there's a pdf manual for all schwinn's bought at WalMart,Targets etc. between 2004 and 2007. I just got one yesterday and had no manual either. This seems to have about all you'll need.
