Why am I getting the message "the system cannot find the path specified" when trying to scan?

Hi Tania,
You receive this notice when the drive and folder the scanner is configured to save the scan is missing. You can correct this by telling the computer where to save the scan. follow this simple steps.

  • On your computer desktop, click Start - open Devices and Printers -
  • Right-click on the printer/ scanner icon and select scan options. Assign a destination folder for saving your new scans.
Please rate me if this helps.

Photosmart C5180

Hi

1. Double Click on HP director to start it up. Look for "HP Director" on your desktop (the screen in front of you). It is usually an icon that materializes after you install your printer. (It may look slightly different with different models.

2. Scan the document by clicking "Scan."

3. Select "Save to File." (You can set up a folder ahead of time so you know where to find the document or photos once they are scanned). Often times the computermag-glass_10x10.gif will create a default "scanned documents" folder and organize them by saving them on the date scanned.

4.Click scan and then wait for box to appear.

5.
The software will prompt you to save the file. Put it in the folder you created (you can see the path/folder). Give it a name you will remember.

6.
Then click "Save"to finalize it. The document should be in the folder that you designated.

Hope this helps

My monitor won't come out of power save mode. How do I get it out of power save mode?

Problem is not with Dell E197FP LCD Monitor, it happens sometime and the culprit usually is an empty battery on the motherboard. The motherboard battery is used when the mains power is off. When your computer detects an empty battery, it goes into a low-power mode.
The computer will then display as message, like "Power save mode - press any key on keyboard or move mouse".
Better to replace battery:-

  • open the case of your computer;
  • visually scan the motherboard for a button-cell battery (it looks like a digital watch battery, but a bit larger);
  • remove this motherboard battery from your computer;
  • restart your computer: it should now power up normally (you may get some warning messages but ignore them);
  • set the date and time of your computer using the "Date and Time" control panel;
  • you can now use your computer normally, but you will lose date and time settings when you disconnect the computer power cord, since there is no motherboard battery present to store them;
  • replace the battery or buy new;
  • install the new battery in your computer;
  • restart your computer, and set the date and time again; the settings will now be saved using motherboard battery power.

My 5305 constantly goes into power save mode

Hi

Thank you for your query

This is a common fault on Dells please try the following

It seems it is a motherboard battery problem. try this.
It most likely is not the monitor which is in "power save mode", it is the computer itself.

When you cannot get a computer out of "power save mode" by any other means, typically the cause is that the button-cell-type battery of your computer, which is located on the motherboard, is empty.

Usually, this happens on a computer which is a few years old, since its batteries will have run out after such a long time. (The motherboard battery is used to store various settings when the computer power is off, such as date and time. When your computer detects this battery is empty, it goes into a low-power mode).

The solution is to replace the button-cell battery on the motherboard of your computer:

- open the case of your computer;
- visually locate the motherboard (the main electronic circuit board) of your computer;
- visually scan the motherboard for a button-cell battery (it looks like a digital watch battery, but a bit larger);
- remove this motherboard battery from your computer;
- restart your computer: it should now power up normally (you may get some warning messages during the start-up sequence, but ignore them);
- set the date and time of your computer using the "Date and Time" control panel;
- you can now use your computer normally, but you will lose date and time

If this has been useful please leave positive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank you again

My computer's bios doesn't save anything

Here's the manufacturer info link
http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/DG31PR/configs.htm

BIOS Loses Date and Time (or Changed Settings Not Saved)
A coin-cell battery (CR2032) powers the real-time clock and CMOS memory. When the voltage of the CMOS battery drops below a certain level, the BIOS Setup program settings stored in CMOS RAM (for example, the date and time) might not be accurate. If you find that date and time is incorrect or if you make BIOS setting changes but they are not saved, replace the battery with an equivalent one. Caution Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect type. Batteries should be recycled where possible. Disposal of used batteries must be in accordance with local environmental regulations.
To replace the battery, follow these steps:
  1. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer. Disconnect the computer’s power cord from the AC power source (wall outlet or power adapter).
  2. Remove the computer cover.
  3. Locate the battery on the board. battery1.jpg
  4. With a medium flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry the battery free from its connector. Note the orientation of the “+” and “-” on the battery.
  5. Install the new battery in the connector, orienting the “+” and “-” correctly.
  6. Replace the computer cover.

My computer went back to older clock date as 1610

try starting your computer in safe mode and see if you can do anything productive there, like scanning for viruses or spyware. also check if you can do the following:
CTRL+ALT+DEL (open task manager)
goto Start>Run>Regedit (open registry editor)
goto Start>Control Panel>Display>Properties (change display settings)
right click on clock at tray and change the current time to correct settings

if you cannot do any of these activities, then your computer may probably been compromised by a virus or malware.
