My Brother HL-5740 Is jamming after every print jog. It's pulling two sheets through, the first sheet with the print job and the second sheet clear, Its like every job has two sheets. The second sheet always is a blank sheet. If a job have two printed sheets, it will print three sheets and the last one blank - but jamming on the second sheet.

You probably need to clean the paper pickup roller above the paper tray. A clean cloth dipped in diluted kitchen detergent and a couple of drops of alcohol, will clean the rubber rollers. Stroke the cleaning cloth firmly from side to side all the way around all the rollers. Also clean the paper separation shoe (rubber pad) at the front of the paper tray. The last thing is to make sure your paper is dry. Damp paper sticks together

SOURCE: Printer won't stop jamming

sounds like your printer wants to form it's own three piece band(kidding here).

sounds like you rollers are dirty or have something on one or both of them..like tires on a slippery road, these need to be clean and dry.

SOURCE: Document Jam Error Message on Brother MFC-8660DN

I had the same problem with a Brother MFC-8460 and called Brother's support line. The solution that worked for me was to lift the top cover where the sheets of paper go through when you fax. On the right of the black rectangluar piece with grey roller there is a slot in the tray with a black lever inside. The black piece was stuck down inside the slot and had to be popped back out. Once it was out I hit the stop button and it was fixed!!

SOURCE: Brother HL2030 laser printer. Paper jam,

There are several sensor flags along the paper exit route, if
any one of these flags stick or have broken the printer will
take the paper so far then shows jam.

remove the drum unit first then the paper jam, look directly
into the printer to where the drum unit sits and check to see
if one of the flags is sticking up-rite in the centre area. Its spring
loaded so as you push it back, it springs forward again thats ok

Remove base paper tray:
The other flag is at the rear and can be accessed by opening
the rear door and then by opening the inner paper exit ***'y
you can then see the flag on the exit ***'y,this is also spring
loaded. If any of these are out of place/stuck or broken a paper
jam will always occur.
let me know what you find!!

Paper jam. Sheet printed but didn't pass through the rollers

Hi,
  • Remove the paper tray completely by pulling it out towards you.
  • Now pull the jammed/stuck paper out gently.
  • If you cannot remove the paper by the above procedures, open the printers front cover to access the cartridges assembly.
  • Pull the cartridges assembly gently and slowly. This will come out together with the jammed paper.
  • If jam not cleared, open the back cover and pull the tab outwards to access the fuser unit.Remove the stuck papers here.

  • Hope this helps.Thanks!

I have a brother mfc 7420 and every time I print it tells me paper jam, I pull the paper tray out fix the paper push start it tells me paper then I have to pull out the cartridge and pull out the paper...

Sounds like there is something in the paper track that's causing this to jam. Its not always easy to get small particles cleared just by removing the jammed paper.

This may not help everyone that I send it to, but it is worth a try.
I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press
the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer.
The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Where is Jam 2 located

1. 1
Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge to fade away before putting your hands or metal tools inside the chassis.
2. Step 2
Pin down the exact location of the jam. The three hot spots for a jam are the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and the print carriage, or between the print carriage and the output tray.
3. Step 3
Take off the front paper tray if the sheet got stuck while it was still in the front area of the printer. If the sheet jammed here, you should be able to see most of the paper.
4. Step 4
Pull on the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a chunk of it deeper in the machine.
5. Step 5
Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed tray area and the print carriage of the all-in-one printer. Carefully remove the jammed paper from the machine.
6. Step 6
Use the carriage access door to reach a jam further inside the all-in-one printer. You may need to move the print carriage out of your way to clear the jam.
7. Step 7
Return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

HP PSC 1610 All-In-One paper jam 1/2 sheet

Throw this thing out as it is clearly rubbish. HP inkjet printers will **** the life and money out of you. Get a Brother HL-2170W and you will have care free printing for cheap.

Cheers old chap.

My Deskjet 5740 has Resume light blinking, all other lights off. Will not print. Won't let me cancel printer queue. If I push the Resume button, the printer feeds a sheet and halfway through the next...

Sounds like it is expecting a different size paper than you have in it. In the item that you are trying to print confirm the page size. If it is a document that you download or someone sent you it could be in a different page size. To cancel it you will likely have to go into the printer settings and delete it from there then power off the printer and power it back on, this should clear the job. Windows will keep trying to print the job until it is successful or deleted. To see the print jobs double click on the printer icon then just highlight and delete it.

Extra paper pulled

Some rubber lining or rollers is out of line, if you can fix that it may work properly.

Hl 2140 error light is flashing

Got the same problem, but in fact it WAS a paper jam. Open both the back panel (can you see the orange roller clearly? If so, no jam) and the front panel. Grab the handle and take out the toner and drum and check there is no paper. Chances are there will be.
