My unit burns a very faint trace on a Memorex CD-R music disc that will not play on the same machine. The recorder "appears" to finalize the CD but repeated attempts produce no usable result.
I have also tried TDK and Imation CD-R's without success.
TDK's online help has told me this unit has been discontinued and there are no repair or replacement components.

You must keep the laser head clean all the time, otherwise you will have problems. Make sure you are using blank media cds that are supported by the serial copy management system.
My recorder was acting up as well. I opened the case, used a canned air blast on it and then cleaned it using a CD cleaner. It worked after that. Your mileage may vary.

If you own a cleaning disk for CD players, use it, if not, buy one (not expensive) and if that fails, replace the drive.
They are not expensive as new but could be very costly to repair.
you need to run your rca cables from your amp/mixer depending on what your using, from the outputs into the inputs on cd recorder.
trhen make sure youve got the right cds cause i own a sony cd recorder an can only use sony digital audio cds,so you want to check that.
there should be a record button on unit press it and then play and you should be away.good luck any problems ask
You need to check that with blank DVD's you are using compatible with your drive.Because the DVD's may work with your extranal drive but not with your builting drive. If this doen't slove the problem I would recommend using a different burning software other than "sonic record now" and "vista o/s Built-in dvd burner".
Mine has started to do the same thing, but I am not convinced that it is not a stack of bad CDRs....
