Power outage then wont turn on

Our home lost power the other night and i'm assuming that our TV took a surge hit even though we had it plugged into a surge protector. When the power came back on 20 hours later all the TV does is hum/whine. it was off at the time of the outage and whines as soon as it is plugged into any outlet.. Can this be fixed by me i know its probably the transmitter but i just wanted to find out where i could find one if its possible, Thanks

When I hit the power button on the tv or the remote, the red power on indicator light comes on for about 2 seconds and then goes off. the screen flashes for a split second and then goes back to black...... any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks in advance

Contact the power company to see what they will do for you they are responsible for power damage also the surge protection should have replacement warranty. may just be blow caps but take to a service center to have it looked at better yet have a service person come to your home to look into it.

TV won't turn on

there is a surge protector on the main power board this has probably blown. or the main power board fuse or plug fuse. check them one by one. there even may be a secondary fuse in the tv around 3amp witch can blow. it will have red and black lines on it or orange that is the rating of the fuse. surge protector is like a battery shap round with 2 prongs onto the board.

Model # P18004W01B wont turn on after power failure even though it was plugged into a surge protector power strip.

Power surge protectors don't always work 100%.
Hopefully the TV has internal Diode protection and it can be fixed cheap

Power Outage Problems Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV

try cycling the power (unplug 2 minutes) and plug in and wait 30 seconds and turn back on. if this doesn't work, could have been a surge, your protector should have saved it, but could have been through cable or something. surge protectors will guarantee no damage for several years, check with the manufacturer maybe they'll cover the repair.

Tv won't turn on

I had a similar problem when there was a power outage or the lights went briefly out. I unplugged the TV and left it for a few days/weeks and then plugged it in and the TV worked. I think newer TVs should be treated like a home computer and put them on surge protectors.

No Power to my TV after power outage

A lot of times its simply a fuse that goes out. Either way someone is going to have to open it up and inspect the fuses first. It 's a fairly inexpensive service call.

Hopefully the fuse took the hit from the storm.

Wont turn on

Laptops are far more prone to be taken out by even minor power surges then anything else in your home, including desktop computers.
If you have any method (multimeter etc) to check the voltage from the power supply you may have been lucky and it took the bullet to save the laptop.
If the power is registering in the correct range, around 18volts, then chances are your laptop has taken the hit and the motherboard is gone.
If this is the case, then before you throw it against the nearest wall, take it to a laptop repair centre. It "may" have been saved by a fuse on the motherboard and therefore protected itself as best it could.
Prices to have it looked at will vary alot, so call around.

TV wont turn on

have you checked the fuses inside the set. The power outage could have surged just enough to blow the fuse. Dont forget to unplug it when you check the fuse.

Tv won't come on

Sounds like the typical power surge created by the outage has caused a power supply problem inside your TV. IF that is it, there not much you can do yourself.
