I have a dual switch that controls the light and the cieling fan. There was a black cord and gray cord that goes directly into the back of the on/off light switch. Then on the fan on/off switch there is a red cord that goes directly into the back of the switch and then there is a black cord that goes around a screw on the side of the light switch and then continues over to the back of the on/off fan switch. I could get the fan to speed up and down but the light would either stay on permanently or not come on at all. Any suggestions?

There's a lot of stuff here, and you may need to clairfy a few details to get to your exact answer. There are a couple of different products that Lutron makes that have the combination fan & light combo, and you may need some help figuring out which one it is. However, the details of this are simple enough that you should be able to simply call their tech support number and have someone walk you through it. They're at 1-800-523-9466 and they're available 24/7.

I'd try to give you a more thorough answer but trying to walk someone throught he wiring combinations on-line like this tends to add more confusion than necessary.

Bulbs blinking fast with light on. it cieling fan has white black green and a black n white wire?does the black and white wire get wired with black or white wire

black to black and white to white. black is hot wire, and white is the nuetral wire. the reason why lights are blinking is there is a watt governor in fan for lights its a little black box. if you remove box, and wire direct for lights. this should take care of the problem. have a good day !!

The correct why to wire up a cieling fan

The usuall wiring for a ceiling fan is black to black, white to white , and red house wire to the other fan wire, sometimes blue. If you only have two wires from the ceiling, then it is still white to white and black to black, but add the other fan wire to the black wires ..

Ceiling fan

If the switch is "OFF" on the wall, the remote will not control anything. The power has to reach the receiver first. If it worked before you turrned the swich off, than one of two things. Either
A: You blew a circuit to the unit or
B: Your receiver went out.
First thing I would do is check that POWER is getting to the receiver.

Wireless ceiling fan

there are remote controlled fan out on the market.

there are also devices the make it remote, but the cord is for power so i dont think you can hide the wires to much without going thru the ceiling.

if you have no access of the cieling then the wire must be there for powering of the fan run along the wall, try stapling the wire to the cieling like around the egdes of the ceiling then perhap painting the wire the same color of the ceiling.

you do not have much option to work with.

you have to make sure you buy the right remote controll

but it still need power.

http://www.csnceilingfans.com/Ceiling-Fan-Remote-Controls-C14870.html

there a site for remote controls for fan or just buy a new fan all together. im sure they put the plug there for a reason because if you use the fan alot they do go bad.

Good luck
