When i start to sew on my Janome sewing machine model Sewist 525S it does a couple of stitches on any stitch type then bangs then sews then bangs then stops. I look to see the problem and the bobbin and needle thread have been knotted together in a big tangle under the feed dogs and the fabric has been pulled down into the feed dogs too. its hard to pull the bobbin thread and when i do it slowly the needle thread gets stuck over the feed dogs after a couple of stitches, and the point that pulls the needle thread over the bobbin thread gets stuck and threads from the needle are caught in it. I have cleaned in and around the bobbin area, rethreaded and replaced the bobbin and read and reread the manual and i still can't fix the problem. can you please help me?

There has to be a problem in your threading or your needle. You may have the needle inserted backwards, flat side has to face rear or the needle is bent. Totally unthread your machine and make sure that there are no tangles and that it feeding the right way. Watch how they show your for threading and winding the bobbin, plus threading the bobbin. Good luck, but I truly think it is in your threading.

I have been given janome 525s the material not feeding through the foot. Unless i pull material it wont move

Make sure the feed dogs have not been dropped, ie for darning or free motion quilting. Also, make sure the stitch length is set high enough to actually create a forward stitch.

Machine seems to be set up correctly but won't stitch. What do I need to do?

If, as you have noted, this is a mechanical machine, my suspicion is that it has not been cleaned and oiled recently and possibly the old oil has solidified preventing the parts from moving.

Here is a web site that may be helpful:
Janome Domestic Sewing Machine Maintenance

You may not need to go to the extent of removing parts and soaking them in cleaner, but certainly cleaning the dust & lint and then oiling with a fresh good quality sewing machine oil may be the ticket to your resolution.

How to controle loose stich

Check he tension on thread and on the bobbin. If you can see THE KNOT ON THE FACE OF MATERIAL then try loosening thread tension on top or tighten bobbin tension so stitch meets in the middle. May take a couple of tries to get it straight.

I am interested in buying a Janome 525 but want to know if it has a built in overlocker

A sewing machine and an overlocker are two completly different things, but a sewing machine is usually able to do a cover stitch. An overlocker will cut the fabric at the same time, a sewing machine cannot do this.

One step buttonhole help!!

On my machines, the one step button hole requires a pull down sensor that the button hole foot triggers when it has done one side. You put the button in the holder part of the button hole foot, set up with sensor and start to sew, being careful not to touch the trigger, then the machine will sew the required length, change stitch and then do other side. Maybe there's a demo on you tube ? I hope this helps
