Your camera can be defected. If you buy new batteries, and it still doesn't work, than you'll probably want to send it back to the manufacturer. First, call them and tell them your problem, and if that doesn't work, than you might want to carefully examine your camera, to check if everything is in the correct place, and their all working correctly.
Try taking a #2 pencil and use the eraser on the contacts inside the camera to clean them off. Dont use anything to rough. If this doesn't work try taking it to a local camera shop to get them to send it off for repair.
hion flash defuser unit up position, it doesn't allow to take picture. This means technically flash circuit is continuously sending charging signal causes blocking shutter release.( but not all of model, it is depend on model of camera.). Like this case, it is obvious that either a fuse brown or charge controlling pcb defective. I recommend you send to your local repair shop or canonUSA. They would charge around $45 to165 depend on what they really want to charge.
Hi,
It's possible it's the flash tube and that its burnt out. Since an external flash works it doesn't sound like it's the circuitry which is a good thing. The flash tube being burnt out is fixable however it's a fix that needs to be done by a professional. If your camera is still under warranty you can send it into Nikon for repair. If it's not under warranty you can still send it into warranty or you can find someone in your area who specializes in camera repair (as that would likely be faster then sending it to Nikon). If you have anymore problems feel free to message me and I can help you out =)
If the LCD doesn't work at all, you can't see menus or play back old pictures then the LCD is damaged and needs to be replaced. Sounds like this is the case, it's about a $130 repair including the part, installation and return shipping of the camera. Hope this helps!
