Whirlpool Model LGN2000KQ0 ignighter glows, flame turns on for a few minutes then it goes out and the ignighter never glows again nor does the flame return

It sounds like the flame sensor is bad. If thats not the case you may need to replace the control board. You should make sure the flame sensor is directly into the flame.

Can be a couple of things. Remove the back of the machine and check the small white colored thermal fuse.Two wires to it. Usually a 1" long cylindrical thing. Could be triangle as well. But jump out and test again. If not then the front comes off and the gas coils may be bad. Also there is an ignighter which should glow for 10 seconds then you here a click and the gas opens and it should ignite to a flame. Some times it will ignite and run for 5 to 10 minutes and get some heat and then goes out and does not come back on. This would be the gas coils to replace.

This is usually caused by faulty coils on the heat valve. they can be purchased seperate from the gas valve and are relatively easy to install..

The problem is the dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. Here is a link that should help troubleshooting a gas dryer.

If your dryer heats when you first turn it on and after a few minutes it does'nt. check the ignitor to see if it is glowing. It should glow bright then you will hear a click and the burner will light. If the ignitor glows bright but you hear a click but no flame and if you watch this for several minutes and this process continues of glow then glow goes out no flame, then you have a bad burner coil. There are 2 black solenoids sitting on top of gas valve. One of them is shorting out after it warms up. Replace both solenoids. You can usually get them as a kit from parts store.
