After switching on with the remote I lost the picture, sound was ok. I checked the power supply for leaking condensators none of those. As none of the backlights was working I looked for a failed component in the common part for all inverter circuits.I found a blown SMD fuse F1 1.0A/67V on the inverter board near the connectors to the power supply. Soldered PCB type fuse on top of the SMD one. TV-worked.again.

There could be two possible failures:
1. The backlights are defective (not a common failure for a 14 months old LCD) or the backlights driver/inverter is defective.
2. Power supply failure(very common failure on LCDs) will cause the symptoms you described.

I have an LG 60 inch plasma model 60PV450 that has no picture but does have sound

It is probably the backlight inverter board. These are common problems on all LCD and Plasma units that use fluorescent backlighting.

LCD TV Has Sound, Backlights Work, but No Picture

I have been having the same problem with my LG. people say there are bad capacitors on the power supply board. I don't have the know how to replace them and don't have the money to pay. I can get mine to work by blowing hot air with a hair dryer into the back of my tv through the vents over the board. Heat it up for a couple minutes and turn it off and then back on and the picture comes back. I just never turn the set off now.

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.
