You can try pressing fn-f7 to turn it back on.. hold the fn key like a shift key, then tap f7 (it turns the touchpad on and off on the zg5 series units.) the icon looks like a touchpad with a finger.

My Advent 5421 Touchpad Is Not Working!!!

Advent laptop computers are equipped with a touchpad and two buttons that service the function of an external mouse. The touchpad can be turned on or deactivated, depending on the user's preference. It's not difficult to either activate or deactivate it.

Power up the computer. Connect a plug-and-play computer mouse to a free USB port on the laptop. The mouse is just temporary to help you get the touchpad working again. Locate the touchpad icon, which is in the lower right-hand side of the screen. The icon will appear as a gray square or rectangle, with two rectangular buttons underneath. Use the mouse to double-click on the touchpad icon, opening a window on your laptop screen. Inside the touchpad window, click the option labeled "Enable Device". Select other options for the touchpad, such as pointer speed and shape. Click "Apply", then "OK". Disconnect the mouse from the laptop.

My touchpad is erractic and the mouse buttons don't work.

Absolutely! You should have changed the mouse and keypad first. That's a problem with many Dell laptops. Mine included.

Asus 10065ha xp both touchpad and external mouse not working touchpad went first. then worked with external mouse. then only touchpad. now both not working.

Unplug your external mouse and restart your laptop. Check to see if the touchpad works, if it doesn't reinstall the driver. Unplug all other USB devices and plug your mouse back into a different USB port. It should be detected now. Cheers, Ravi Shanghavi

I installed a wireless mouse in my laptop but touchpad does't work

is the mouse still attached when the touchpad doesn't work or does it still not work when you detach the mouse, if it works after detaching the mouse, your computer automatically disables the touchpad when a mouse is plugged in.

Can move the mouse but not clikc with the touchpad

Hi,

if you installed an external mouse, it would over-ride the touchpad.
try removing the external mouse, and tap the touchpad twice as if you were double clicking it.
also you could try re-installing the touchpad device driver, usually synoptics or similar.

Mouse or touchpad not working

Hi,

add an external mouse/keyboard to fix the onboard fault.
check the device manager for any yellow exclamation marks. as there may be a faulty or corrupt. keyboard/mouse touchpad driver.
other option, is to add remove touchpad drivers, and re-install.
finally, you could check if the settings are correct in the bios.

Thankyou For Using Fixya.

Dell Latitude D630 Touchpad/Pointer

Do not check the check box as leaving the touchpad enabled while using an external mouse will not cause any harm.

Dell Inspiron 6000 Alps Touchpad not working

Try unistalling the touchpad driver, and reboot. The machine will find the touchpad and reinstall the driver automatically. These have a tenancy to glitch when using an external mouse, and this should clear it up. Let me know.

Mouse/touchpad issues

Try to connect a external mouse.
If it does work ok with the external mouse . It means that their is a problem the touchpad.
Who can take it to a service center for repair or you can use the external mouse.
