GE Triton XL dishwasher, at first I had the left over powder soap issue until I dismantled the lower spray arm and cleaned the nets and removed the rusty particles in the hole in bottom of washer and also switched to liquid soap. But their is still a residue on the dishes, so I bought jet dry to refill (since I have not done so since purchase of used dishwasher) and after removing the cap there is a light blue gooey substance not the jet dry liquid consistancey so I ran the washer without adding soap and got the same results of residue and gooey stuff remained inside jet dry bowl. Next I left the jet dry compartment cap off and ran the washer again, and same results. I filled the bowl up with water to push out the soap but did not work. My question is, How do I get the dishwashing soap out of the Jet Dry compartment?????

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound. If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve.
Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete.
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.

The soap door doesn't open fully on that model, and usually flips fully open as you open the dishwasher door.
It relies on the top spray arm turning to 'wash' the soap out of the drawer - and that will be the problem.The spray arm isn't turning.
Check the spray arm for blocked jets at the very end - use a pin to clear them out, or replace them - check both spray arms. Make sure the spray arm rotates freely also.
Remember the dishwasher isn't a garbage disposal unit - remove food deposits from plates etc before loading the machine. Run a dishwasher cleaner through the machine now and then. Food like pasta, or fruit pips often get carried to the end of spray arms and block them.
If using a 30 min rapid wash program ONLY and dishwasher tablets, put the tab in the cutlery basket as it wont have time to dissolve fully if you put it in the dispenser.

Well this is not a solution by any means but I would just put the tablet or powder directly into the machine-just "chuck it in". It will work just the same. The dispenser itself isnt truly necessary.

Switch to a brand name powder detergent like Electrosol or Cascade. Never use ultracheap, generic DW detergent powder in any dishwasher. Run a load with dirty dishes and see the results are.

If cleaning results remain poor open the sump area by removing the lower spray arm and the filter assembly. Remove all debris in and around the sump area. Inspect the impeller down there to make sure it is not broken and that it spins freely. Clean the filter well in the sink. Reassemble. Also, check all spray arm holes for blockage.
Run a load of dishes and check cleaning results. If problems continue, you almost certainly have a failing wash motor and replacement is your next step.
