It depends on the type of MP3 player to have.
If you have an Apple device, then you need iTunes to delete the music. If it's any other type of MP3 player, and you are itself Windows, then you need the drivers for the MP3, just comedy threes MP3 to the computer, it will search for the drivers, once it's recognize, click computer, and you should be able to see your MP3 player as a mass storage device, click it and the music should be display. Now you must be able to delete the music.
What is your MP3 player?
You can reinstall the MP3 player/vedio player driver on your system

I would try a reinstall of itunes. Or go into your preferences and delete it from your devices list and let it reconnect. You need to be using the newest version of itunes also. Hope that helped.
Unplug your mp3 player from computer. Uninstall the software that came with your mp3 player. Reinstall the software. Then and only then reconnect your mp3 player to the computer. Try again.
Find the MP3 player in the device manager, delete it, then plug it in again and see if Windows recognizes it and reinstall the drivers properly. If on the second try windows does not install the device drivers properly, find it in the device manager right click on it and click update drivers
This is a great item. I use it when i'm riding my sportbike; I bought it 2 weeks ago and recently it just locked up, it won't boot past the pearl logo.
I got it working though. Go to the following link http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/voxrightnow.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2557
1) Take the battery out to shut it off. 2) put it in your usb port the computer will recognize it as a drive 3 ) delete all the music on it (select is all and delete) 4 ) download both drivers / firmwares at the above link 5) let it format your mp3 player and reinstall all the drivers.
