The bobbin thread will not pick up. The machine had jammed and I forced the wheel and can't get bobbin thread to pick up. When I thread manually, I only get holes, no stitches. Is it a timing belt?

Check your needle to see if it's bent---roll on flat surface to see if it roll correctly
on some sewing machines when the thread comes off the thread take up lever it can cause the machine to jam
also if the bobbin thread becomes tangled it can jam
check the bobbin area for lint or loose threads
try having a top thread tail & bobbin thread tail of 3-4 inches
try holding the top thread tail & turn the handwheel on the right side on the machine manually & put the needle down into the bobbin area & see if the bobbin thread will pick up that way

Hand wheel wont turn to raise needle.

If handwheel does not turn, you may have thread jammed in the hook. First try to force the handwheel BACKWARDS to try to force thread back out of hook. If handwheel turns, look around hook area and you will probably see a small piece of thread. Remove it with tweezers. To help eliminate this from happening, be sure to hold the needle thread when starting off.

Why is my machine jamed

Sounds like a thread jam ! Open bobbin case housing remove bobbin and clean away thread ! Do not force the balance wheel to turn or you will knock out the timing !

The needle broke while sewing and the bobbin picked up lots of thread after a struggle the thread n bobbin came out but now the wheel doesn't turn

you have thread in your bobbin case. try spraying wd 40 and let it soak overnite then try to force the wheel. not to hard because the hook will pop out of the finger with the protrusion that goes in a notch in the hook case, in most cases u won't be able to see the thread thats jammed. you may have to take out the hook. next time you start sewing make sure the take up bar is threaded!!!

John Lewis mini sewing machine

This was really helpful for me fixing my daughter a John Lewis (janome) mini sewing machine, and now can get the bobbin thread up again, however, when you sew, the thread is not staying in stitches, just coming off the material completely. I tried forcing the gears on one more time but then it didn't pick up the bobbin thread again so went back to the other gear position. Any ideas of what to try and get it stitching again? Thanks

Balance wheel doesn't turn

Don't force it. open up under the presser foot and the bobbin area.... pick out any threads.

Machine is jamming

You need to remove the bobbin from the "race" by following the instructions in the manual. Give it a good clean and remove any bits of fluff and thread. Remove the upper thread also andmake sure that the tension wheel is clear of any broken threads and is on the correct setting. It may have been threaded wrong. The hand wheel not turning sounds like the bobbin area is jammed also.

Needle will not pick up bobbin threat

Try flipping the bobbin spool so the thread comes off in the other direction.
Forcing means that the needle has been jammed against the sewing plate ant the needle is now out of timing with the bobbin pickup.

Jammed

ROLL THE MANUAL LEVER BACK AND FORTH WITH CONTROLLED FORCE till the needle comes out! the jamming is caused by threads tangled inside the bobbin area. rolled it with a controlled force back and forth. when the needle comes out flip your machine to where you could open the bottom part and remove/clean the threads tangled on the bobbin!
place some OIL.
