Hi...thanks but I need instructions on how to replace a burned out element. The OWNER'S MANUAL does not address this issue.

    Thanks, David

First you remove the four knobs. After the glass maintop assembly. After that you will be able to clear see all parts including the element. Element is secured on the metal base and you should remove the wires first.

Just take notes where each cable goes or you can take a photo to have it as a reference if you forget anything.

Put all back together in reverse order and is ready.

We have here the parts layout which will help you understand what is in you electric range.

Wiring for GE Cooktop 1960s

I have an early 1970s GE, and we keep saying when it breaks down, we will replace it, but apart from replacing elements, it just goes on and on.

Unfortunately, neither of your numbers give results. There should be a plate near the power lead that has the details and some have a parts manual and wiring diagram in the rear of the console if it has one.

Question edited for clarity.

There is no fuse, the loads are too great.

The Service Manual is in the link. Check the Control Lock on Page 11.

Your radiant heat element is probably blown. Call kitchenaid for information and replacement part numbers then search online for a good price.

Right front (large) burner indicates hot, won't work, flashes F153

I hade a code 153 also. Changed the element(costly-$200) and had to recalibrate the pan sensors(in the manual). All works fine now.
