GE 900 Mgz cordless phone, model 26936GE2-C

Sir, The phone and base are the same. I have good dial tone. When I go to dial out, the tone never changes and the call does not go through. I cannot receive incoming calls, even though the phone rings.

    Just the one.

  • callboy May 22, 2008

I called GE and received the following instructions. Unplug the electric power and the phone line. Disconnect the battery in the hand set and let sit for a minimum of 15 minutes. I did this, hooked everything back and the phone reset itself.

It seems to me that one of you experts should have known this method. What did I pay my $9.95 for? I had already gone to the GE web page and had the hotline number to call next. Hmmmmmmm.

How many handsets do you have on this system? Just the one for the base unit?

  • Anonymous May 21, 2008

Yes, I think you'll need warranty repair service for this. Call the GE Helpline as IrishDruid has posted.

Registering Handsets to the Base
Whichever handset you choose to charge in the base is automatically
registered to the base. Any additional handsets must also be registered to
the base before you can use them.
Be sure both handsets are fully charged.
One at a time, place each handset in the base. The charge/in use LED on
the base begins to flash, indicating the base is registering the handset.
Wait for at least five seconds, then pick up the handset and press
[talk/flash]. If the display shows TALK, the handset is registered. If not,
place the handset in the base to try again.
Press [end] and continue with the next handset.
Note:
Once both handsets are registered, it doesn’t matter which
handset is placed in the base or the charger.
When you charge the handsets, Caller
ID summary screen and the name of
the handset appears.

SOURCE: Uniden cordless phone. No dial tone.

Hi peddler65, did you plug your phone into another area to see if there is a dial tone. Then if not call the phone company or find the D-mark (where your dial tone ) comes into your home and put a jack on that and plug a phone in with all phones in the house unplugged.

Thanks.

SOURCE: uniden 5.8Ghz phone.

You need to reset the main base unit. Unplug the power from the back of the base. While the power is disconnected, press and hold the delete key while reconnecting the power. Wait for a long beep tone. When the display shows 88 or P, press play button one time. If you have a phone without an answering machine, disconnect the power from the back of the base, press and hold find hs button while reconnecting power.

GE portable phone model # 26928GE1-D No dial tone-installed new battery still no tone

That isn't a whole lot to work with. Get a working phone and take the cord out of the base of the GE and plug it into the working phone.
If the working phone gets a dial tone, look into the modular receptical on the GE base and see if the contact wires aren't out of place.
If you don't get a dial tone on the working phone, try changing the connection cord between the phone and the wall. Also look for the same problem in the wall receptical as discribed above for the GE base.

Sounds like a defective battery or low battery.
1. Have you replaced the battery?
2. Have you changed the channel?
3. Have you dropped it?
Answer these few questions and we'll see if we can figure it out.

Dial tone is OK, but can't dial out
• Make sure the tone/pulse setting is programmed
correctly.
TONE/PULSE DIALING
1. Make sure the phone is OFF (not in TALK mode).
2. Use the CID/VOL left (-) or right (+) arrow button to
scroll to 1TONE or 2PULSE, or use the touch tone
pad on the handset to enter the desired setting. For
example, to choose TONE dialing, press the number 1
key. 1TONE is the default setting.
3. Press flash/program to store selection. You will hear a
confirmation tone.
