I have a RCA Pearl TH1702 A...somehow the firmware in mp3 player got corrupted....i went to pearl site and tried to install the firmware utility/restore but i couldn't find it listed on the site (perticularly TH1702 A)....i tried with the basic steps of reinstalling...formatting the device..plugging in the mp3 with play button pressed...unlocking the device...but as i try to run the setup for TH1702 listed on site it neither initializes my device nor i get the firmware update screen or button...the error is " your FM radio has stopped working".....and it proceeds no further.....please suggest how to re-install the driver on TH1702 A????????????????

When resetting of the TH1702 doesn't help, a firmware reinstallation may be required.
Before performing the firmware update make a backup of the player's content to your computer, to have it preserved.

The first time I tried to restore the firmware in my Pearl it would not recognize it. I had to follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you run the software. Basically, try taking the battery out and waiting 10 seconds or so. Run the software and read all the instructions at the bottom of the popup window. then hold the play button, plug your player in, and keep holding that button until the software recognizes it. It works.

Not to sound dumb...but there is a slide up and down button with a lock on it on the side...you should be able to slide that button away from the lock position and unlock it that way...Hope it helps
