If you wire them in parallel you will have a 1 ohm load. wire them in series and you have a 4 ohm load.
The 4 ohm load is much safer to run.

I have 2' 2ohm 10" subs running a Alpine pdx1.1000 looking for best way to wire do I need another amp or wire as 4 ohm

I would think a 1000 watts would be enough for 2 10's.
You can hook up two dual voice coil subs a few different ways.
First thing I would check for is what ohmage your amp is rated for.
You don't want to push a lower ohmage than what your amp is rated to handle.
That is a good way to overheat & ultimately fry your amp.
After that, you can wire your subs accordingly.
If they are dual 2 ohm subwoofers, you can wire each of them as a 4 ohm load, 2 ohm load or even a 1 ohm load.
I would personally go by what the amp is ratted for.
Remember though, the lower you run the ohmage, the better base responce & harder the hit you will get.

Hi there, i have a orion cobalt 2105xp 400. i have hooked all up, but very little bass. i have 1 10" boston acoustic sub. i noticed that the led is constant red, is it supposed to be green, crossover...

amp is in protect mode. check your wiring and make sure your sub is wired properly for ohms. dual 4 ohm in parallel = 2ohm. dual 4 in series is 8 ohms. dual 2 ohm parallel= 0.5 ohms and in series 4 ohms. check ground and power wires. make sure sub isnt blown. a blown sub WILL cause this on any amp.

I have 2 kicker l7 12 dual voice coil subs.. i just friend a hifonics 1600w amp and am wondering if a kx 1200.1 kicker amp will be enough to power them they are 750w rms a piece .. can these be run at 1...

it all depends on the impendance of your subs if u have duel 4ohm or duel 2ohm, 2 duel 4ohm speakers can be wired at 1ohm to the amp, and with a kx1200.1 that would be pushin 2400 peak and 1200rms
if ya have 2 duel 2ohm speaker than you can only wire them to 2ohm and would be pushing 1200 peak and 600 rms with the kx1200, so if you have the duel 4ohm i would go with the kx1200.1 and if u have the duel 2ohm i would go with the hifoncs

Wiring options for amp

Te dual inputsm are tied together on the output side thus having a "MONO" amp. Most class D anps are stable down to 1 ohm (check your manuel) therefore, 2 2ohm subs are a 1 ohm load. 2 DVC (dual voice coil) 4 Ohm on each voice coil will give each sub a 2 ohm load so 2 dual4 ohm V's will give you a 1 ohm load as well. Parrallel all conections.

What subs do you have? Is this amp 1 ohm ono stable?

Connecting a subwoofer to a mono amp that has 2 sets of terminals

ok this gets confusing sometimes. Ok first look to see what ohm your subs are. If you have a dual 4 ohm sub When you run that on sub + to + and - to - then that will make that sub 2 ohm. its different on ohm if the sub is say a 8 ohm then putting the wires that way will bring that sub to 4 ohm. Now lets say you have 2 subs that are dual 4 ohm and wire both of them + to + and - to - and go bridge the amp which would be both wires from sub both + together and both - wired bridge on the amp will make it a 1 ohm to the amp. Please post what ohm your subs are and i can tell you alittle more about it

Help???

It's not really made to run a dual 2ohm sub. What you can do though is wire the sub like this:

we'll call you subs voice coil A and B. Wire it like this A's(+) to (+) on amp; then A's (-) to B's (+), then B's (-) to (-) on the amp. This is known as series / parallel wiring it will effectively make your amp see a 4ohm mono load.

What brand and model of amp do you have?

Wiring my kicker solo-baric 15's

The best you can do is connect the dual 2 ohm voice coils of each respective sub in series (4 ohms total per sub) and then connect each sub to one channel of the amp. This will give each sub 1000W, which is the rated maximum from Kicker.

Unsureness of wiring configurations.

Mamola,

Get an amp with at least 200 Watts RMS. The RMS value is what is important about driving Subs. This could be proclaimed to be a 1000 Watt amp. REad the RMS value.

Wiring. It is better to series your Speakers to give them and your amp more reliability,

Get a Mono or Bridgeable amp. If it si bridgeable, BRidge the output as described in the manual you get. Some Amps have a diagram right on the output..

AMP+ to Sub1 +
Sub1 - to Sub2 +
Sub2 - to Amp -

Get a 4 Guage wring kit. Run your power wiring down the Drivers side, and Audio signal wiring down the Passenger side, keep the two separate.
