You should contact a Lanier or Ricoh service technician to remove the hard drives for you, but if you have to do it yourself the hard drives can be removed by unscrewing and sliding out the controller board (on the right side of the copier). The hard drives are connected to the controller board by three screws and four connectors.

How do I Remove the hard drive from Lanier printer model number LD445C

It is located behind the panel where your Ethernet cable plugs in. The easiest way is to remove the rear panel. Then remove the metal panel. From there you should be alright on your own.

I can't seem to remove my hard drive. can anyone help me?

1. Unplug laptop from AC power.

2. Remove battery; Look at laptop manual if you don't know how to do this.

3. Flip the laptop over so the bottom of the laptop is facing you.

4. There should be a rectangular bay on the back of the laptop that houses the hard drive. See picture for an example. Your laptop will likely look different but the picture should help give you an idea.

5. Remove the screw(s) that secures the plastic plate covering the hard drive bay; there's usually only one or two screws to remove.

6. You will now see the hard drive. Look for any screws that are securing the hard drive to the laptop. Remove the screw(s). Not all laptops will have screws securing the hard drive to the laptop but some do, and I'm guessing this may be your problem.

7. Slide the hard drive horizontally away from the interior (middle) and toward the exterior (outside) of the laptop. The hard drive is plugged into the laptop and this action will unplug the hard drive.

8. That's it - you're done. Just reverse the steps to replace the hard drive.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

We have a Lanier Copier Model 5635 and we need to know if saves PII information on a hard drive before we can remove it from our office.

yes it does. the hard drive is located on the left side in back of the machine, It is easy to remove. If you are trading it out, you can either remove it yourself or have a service rep remove it.
I have done that several times for customers who do not or can not allow hard drives to leave their presence.

How to reboot a computer with erasing hard drive

You need to get a little more familiar with terminology; 'reboot' simply means restart and while PCs start from the hard drive, erasing the drive means making the hard drive momentarily empty of data or system files.
Did you mean 'reformat?' This can make the drive empty of any recoverable files if done properly or, if done with the quicker method, it simply makes the file names different and unusable meaning the content can be recovered if desired.
If you are trying to destroy existing data but want to preserve the operating system, there are numerous free utilities that will do that securely and remove sensitive material.
I use this one for secure deletions, it's pretty simple and easy to use and can make any data totally 'gone' by several different methods.
