My MP 160 cannot scan to pc, but can print and photocopy well. it says it cannot communicate with scanner..cable might be disconnected or scanner might be off..tried uninstalling and reinstalling..still doesn't work
I have the same problem but I'm trying to use mac osx 10.4 tiger...any suggestions?

Changing the Drum does not affect the scanner settings.
You can print because your PC (computer) can see your machine but for scanner is the oposit. The machine must see your PC.
I think that in this machine you have an SD card with the scanner funtion. Try to take it off and then put it on again. (the SD card is on its side. In the controller box)
Regarding the Cannon scanner error 2145,50. I note you have tried to fix this, but failed. The actual problem is that the scanner will not communicate with the computer correctly if it is connected through a USB hub. A direct connection to the computer cures it. I know, I had that problem. I am a retired elctronics design engineer.

there is a problem with your scanner, neither scanner is working there is a problem in scanner cable and also there is a problem in copy button or panel problem one of them has to be replaced and to be checked
I was having problems and was connected via a hub. I removed the hub and connected the printer directly to the back of the PC and voila scanning is all good.
